Ok kids I used to be able to throw down, spin smoothly and grab my skis wherever I wanted to. This year however, I cannot spin and grab whatsoever. I can barely straight air. I realize popping may be my problem but I have tried everything in order to fix it. I know you cant fix me by talking on the internet, but anyone else out there know what I mean?
I dont see how you could spin an grab and now cant even spin. Just start small with some 180s then threes of small jumps. You should get it back in no time.
yea man i have the same problem. for me its timing, i have problems timing when to pop. u jus gotta stay forward and as ur toes come to the edge of the lip jump. as for grabs...i dno what to tell u. some times i can, sometimes i go for grabs and get way off balance and flail...any one know why?(this should also help the kid who started the thread, so i aint jackin it)
Stand up straight, not gorilla style until you get better. Just try to dial the speed, I like to wait and watch other people hit a jump and usually go faster if needed which is usually the case. Just find a small safe jump and start there.
I'm more on my way up the trick list the 1st time... but what really helped me get my 3's dialed in was being able to stomp real slow 180s... once I could spin 180, spot the landing, and stomp it w/ ample time.. the 3 was just the next step, a slightly harder pop... lookin' over the shoulder a bit longer...
I havn't yet, but I'm figuring once I get the 3's liek 2nd nature the 5 will coem the same way.. gl
just do it over and over again and get comfortable, you just arent used to it yet this season. for spinning make sure you can spin with your head up, even try to look at something while you are spinning. thats what really helped me, just stay straight up, and once you get really comfortable go for crazier grabs and off axis stuff
probably spent too much time watchin vids on newschoolers where there are a lot of sick skiers that make everything look all too easy and lost your own groove when you got back on the slopes
Drop the poles for a little while and focus on getting your whole hand on the ski and then do it with spins and it will get a ton easier. I am prolly gunna get shit for the no pole thing but it helped me out a lot.
no poles makes you a solid susan in the air, but also: go off jump. repeat x 1000. jump until you hate jumping. then keep jumping. you do something enough times you get pretty comfortable with it. i had a similar problem I was tryin to progress too quickly and everything I was doing was etch a sketch. just make sure your foundation is solid.
