Leaf blower?

could it work?

i imagine it could but itd take way more work then if you just used an air compressor. easier to setup make the same or more and easier to upgrade to make a bigger snowgun thus making more snow. id just get a compressor

i just want a quick fix and i dont have an air compressor or the money for one

i was thinking of merging the air and water into a single pvc pipe and capping the end of the big pipe and making a small whole in the cap for the water to come out

is that the best way to do it or should i make several holes or should i do something else?

i dont think that way would work bc the air could back into your water line or vice versa. i think youd be better off narrowing the barral or the air to make it small so you get a high thin stream air of water and then thesame with the water and then set them up as an external snowgun. have the water coming from the side and water from the bottom and have them close to each other. thats probably your best chance. easy to do, even could use a hose nozzle and put it on FINE mist and then have the air come from the side like i said above. very cheap to do, let us know how it goes.(i tried last year but the temp was 34 with a wb of 30 so i didnt get anything but the potential is there

you said to put the water on the bottom then you said to put it on the side, which on is it

Im still experimenting with my fan, Except I have oil burner nossles on it with a cowling over it so hopefully it will blow it up in the air and then the small droplets will freeze. Hopefully tomorow night it will be good conditions to test.

Any Update if it worked or not? I wouldn't think that it would or atleast not for long as I doubt a leafblower is rated for long term running times required for snowmaking (Unless its oil?). It would also be very difficult to get the air to a high enough PSI to even properly nuc the water particles.

You would need to force the air coming out of the leaf blower into a really narrow tube (to get PSI up), and attach that tube to a tank (to ensure constant air discharge), and then run an air hose (with PSI gauge) to your gun.  you probably could only get the PSI up to the 60+ you need to run a gun by sacrificing your volume (CFM would basically be at zero).  The only way it could work is if you fill the tank over a long period of time, and then discharge it at the CFM/PSI you want (but you would have to use most of your leaf-blower runtime on filling the tank).  You would need a really big tank.  two or three propane tanks would give you enough air to run your gun for a fair amount each time.

Honestly, It could be done, but just the labor required to make an airtight connection to the compression pipe/the cost of the parts you would need justify the Standard Eaton.  (eatoncompressors.com).  I've had really good experiences with their products.  They're failrly priced, and they run really well.

i wouldent work, some of the reasons snowmaking works is b/c of pressure. when the air comes out of your nozzle, it expands and cools. that wouldent work with a leafblower
