Armada AR6's delamming and chipping

I've heard lots of people bitching about how their armadas break and chip and delam, but are they actually that shitty? I just bought a new pair, and they haven't come yet, but i'm not gonna get another pair for at least two seasons. If i dont do rails but still ski them pretty hard will they get fucked up?

I've been on Armadas since 2002 and I've never broken a pair...
I'm 6' 180 pounds and ski at least 100 days per season

i have a pair of ants that have about 6 days on them... they're doing fine. but i've seen a couple of pairs of ar6's and ar3's come into my shop with the topsheet peeling off. all i can say is that i hope it doesn't happen to my skis.

ya no diggity.
delams are an easy fix, and topsheets chip. its what they do when youre grabing and hittin it hard. these skis are built to take a beating. go beat the shit out of them.

i have had multiple pairs of armada. i have had some edge chipping, but what ski doesnt get the edges chipped a little. never had a edge crack or anyhting wrong with the edges. they are super durable IMO and i will continue to buy armadas for years to come because of this.

I have chipped the topsheet on every ski ive ever owned on the first day, and ripped out the edges underneath my boot every year. the way alot of people talk they might as well leave the skis in the plastic

i would post a pic, but i just sent them to armada today. the topsheets just peeled off the ski. Its not the AR5's that are having problems, just the new AR6's.

Hey, you know what's fucking awesome? Dicks like you that buy online to save $5, but then harass your local shop when you need warranty service.
Good work on helping them pay their staff and keep their lights on, asshole.

^ haha if you only knew I tried to get them from my local shops but they couldnt order them for me becuase they could not get them in cause armada was sold out you dick

the shop i worked at would turn you away if you walked in with skis bought online, you could try, but most likely have to go through armada. I wasn't being an asshole, i was just amazed at the fact that you thought you could bring in your skis that you bought online and get money from a shop.

Will you post a pic? Details? How old? How many days? etc.?
I dont see it happening to anyone much less everyone.... I would love to see where and how it is delaming...
Skis will chip, scratch, dent, etc. as stated above just like anything you use hard will (bikes, skateboards, surfboards)
Any twin is designed to take a beating. I've had about seven (7) sets of Armadas (AR5/6, THall, JJ, & Ants) never had a problem with any of them delaming. Sure they chip, but if you use them for how the are desinged you going to end up with a few dings. I ski hard, 70 days year at least and at 5'10" 190; they've done their job in my eyes

alot of what you heard is probably bitch kids on armadas crying because their topsheets chipped and their skis don't look as pretty anymore. who cares about top sheet chips it doesnt affect the performance, delaminating, however, is a much bigger problem.

I ski on rocks and rails often and I've never broken a pair or done anything more than crack an edge, I weigh 180 pounds...
If they really are delamming that bad call Tyson and he will send you a new pair.

some kid I know is going to take a hack saw to his Pipe Cleaners and cut off like 10 inches of the edge under his foot, because he was used to his last skis having no edges. It makes me sad to see him do that to such sick skis.

they have a soft topsheet so your gunna take out chunks from the top of the sidewall, as long as your not just sitting in the lodge looking at how sick your stuff looks it wont make a bit of difference

yea they chip hella easy but they are still good ski as long as your walls, edges, and base are fine who cares

You know Armada makes this little de-tuner that detunes edges under foot (or where you want) to a 45*.. Its like $25...
Or you could just tell him to take a file and shave off what edges he doesnt want instead of cuttin them out.. Cause for way less problems that way..

Armadas. They frequently delaminate and chip and edges just bust and the bases are paper thin. But people really seem to like them despite the terrible quality. I have armadas and they are still going, but they are old and suck.

wrong compared to invaders you get very few back for warantee, and that's cause the ski retails at 300 bucks so people shouldn't bitch about that but i have seen a pair of ar6's delam already

armada takes other companies techonologies and fixes whats wrong with them...Armada is the shit!

jumps are what causes a ski to delam. too many hard impacts, especially on ice
and of course awkward landings or clipping your ski on the end of a rail or some shit.
ive had my t-halls for 3 years. ive only broken one pair (edge ripping out) and ive never heard of armadas delaming excluding the first years

if you knock your skis then they will chip the topsheet, the topsheet doesnt effect how the ski skis anyways.

I bought the 2005 AR5s when they came out. Within two days or early season skiing (small jumps, no rails, no serious bails) the base and topsheet seperated at the tip.. or delamed or whatever.. The base also collapsed in another place. I think there was an air pocket in the core. The shop I bought them from wouldn't warantee them all season because they wouldn't believe I hadnt't hit a rock or something. I sent them in at the end of the season and Armada replaced them, but they sent me the same years models. By the middle of last years season, the edge came out at the tip. I don't know if durability has improved alot since 2005, but don't believe people who swear Armadas are flawless.

yeah I know. I use a panzer file to bevel my edges myself, and it works great. I told him that and he didnt believe me. that little bitch.

I've owned 2 pairs of ar5's and never had a problem. Though the way I see some kids throw their skis around at the hill and in the car park I'm not fucking surprised they get wrecked.

i would post a pic, but i just sent them out. what happened is it delaminated right at the tip , and the base connected to the edges just peeled away from the topsheet and the core. I skied on them for 3 days, and not very hard either. it prbablly peeled back about 3-4 inches.

delamming isnt really a problem, but chipping can be. Its only cosmetic though, the AR6s fucking kill it.
