hey guys im sure someone prolly has posted this but it didnt show up on my searches but basicly i wanna know how to get on rails that are urban stule in the park ive tried before and its posed a problem for me some help would be great thanks alot
come in from the side and pop hard. at this point its important then you get on smoothely to avoid slipping back or not getting centered, so concentrate on getting your skis directly over the rail while leaning forward slightly. this part is hard to explain but it helps a lot. when you go to ollie onto the rail focus on olling as close as you can to the beginning of the rail while maintain the body motion that you would have if you were landing a foot farther down the rail. This will maintain your center of balance and prevent you from slipping back.
well most people dont no this but hitting it blindside is easier then hitting it normal. u are able transition to the steepness of the rail. but whatever feel comfatable
not too fast, not too slow.
pop and turn.
dont ovber think it. thats how easy it really is.
make sure you keep looking at the end of the rail.
I usually glance at where i want to hit the rail frist then follow it to the end of the rail.
ur either getting hung up from not popping, or youre looking down and falling where youre looking.
where your eyes go, your body will follow.
pop, turn, look ahead. thats rails in the urbs.
thats what i was wondering cuz for getting on the only ways i can think of is regular or a lip and then unatural. I thought blindside was only for switch ups and 270s. When ur getting on a rail ur coming strait at it so how can it be blindside.
well 'urban style get ons' you would be coming at the rail from the side, not strait on. If you know what the difference between boardslide/lipslide is in skateboarding, thats basically what blindside means here. When you pop your tails go cross over the rail, not the front tips. I think thats what he means by blindside. It makes sense from the description he gave of why it'd be easier. I've actually never done a rail this way though.
To the creator of this thread though.... if you have a really low rail at your hill for beginners or something (like a 6 inch high flat bar or something) you could practise getting onto it from beside the rail instead of strait on. That way when you try an actual urban style rail it wont be so weird.
ohh i call that a lip slide. I guesse i can see how a lip slide is a little more blind cuz ur back is to the rail. When he tried to explain it he did not say tails he said tips which really confused me.
