my understanding on salting snow is that it lowers the tempture so that on warmer days it stays colder. it this correct? what dose it do when you salt snow? so if i want the snow to stay for longer in my yard do i salt it?
No it does not. The salt makes the snow melt and then it will freeze again. So it gets hard and will get a better shape. This is because the freezing level gets below zero now. This also menas that when it gets warmer it will turn earlier into water than the snow with no salt in it.
