Ticket for passing a school bus?

Alright well today i was late to school and wasn't really paying attention and i ended up passing a school bus that had the littel stop sign out. APparently, the driver wrote down my liscense plate number and called the fuzz and they ended up yanking me outta class and writing me a citation. Anyways, i'm not sure if i should go to court becasue aparently it is a 3rd degree misdeamonr which seems more serious then all the other traffic violations. My alternative to going to court is paying $225 to do some program where i have to do some community service and the ticket will never appear on my record? What do you think i should do court of hte service thign and why?

No the alternative is the $225 program. The citation does not say how much the ticket is / the penalties that i can get. Also would colleges care if they saw this on my record?

passign a school bus is one of the worst things you can do. its tied for most demerit points of an offence. cant remember what the other one is

Uh... I think that's the whole point of the stop signs.

fuck no fight it, always fight it. and worse case senario you pay the same as if you would plead guilty, cause if you plead guilty you are gonna be rappppped in insurance costs

my freind did that, blew past a schoolbus when the sign was out after the kid crossed, same deal
FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE DOLLAR TICKET, and mad points. go take that course, its worth it. its gonna be either the same amount, or more, plus points. fuck, a rolling stop is 250 bucks, and passing a schoolbus? isnt that a mis-d?

if you do the service and pay the $225 fine, it doesnt go on your record. Easy just do it. Court isnt worth it, because you clearly did do it so its not like you can fight it, and it will probably be on your record if you go to court.

yea thats the law on passing a stopped school bus. If you blow through the stop sign and the bus driver catches your info and reports it, it is automatic penalty, no debate. However, most people don't know this, if there is a median inbetween you and the school bus you do not have to stop. as for you... tough luck man, pay the fine and do the time, its worth it

How did you not realize you were passing a stopped school bus? I think you knew, and you were just a fucking retard. Pay up dumb ass, you deserve it.

go to court... this is what could happen 1. cop doest show up...therefore no fine and dermit point fine also ask for evidense, this case point get thrown out just because it wasnt witnessesed by a cop 2. if the fine is a big deal ask for the fine to be reduced or converted into community service

pay it is you want, but i would think you could get the whole thing thrown away. maybe... unless there were other whitnesses. An officer of the law did not see you do it, and since its not theft or murder, I wouldnt imagie they would be willing to put too much investigation into it.

yeah im pretty sure you have to be like 25 feet or something like that behind a school bus when it's stopped by law (well in NH at least..), so i'm pretty sure that you defiantly don't have a chance in court considering you passed it and skipped the whole stopping deal. so yeah.. pay the ticket. if you go to court and you don't win (which is what would probably happen) they'd probably make you pay more money and stuff.
that sucks, sorry about that.

happened to me once. right in front of the police station too. the school bus driver even waved me around, but there was a fucking cop parked right in front of the bus waiting for someone to do exactly that. $450 ticket. I went to court and the cop didnt show up, so i didnt have to pay one penny.

here in quebec when you do that you pay like 250 bucks AND you lose about 8 points (normal ppl have 11 points i think if they lose em all they lose their license) its almost ridiculous

your an idiot. why fight it if there absolutely no chance in winning? you passed a school bus while his lights were on. theres no way around that. you either did it or you didnt.

I dont see how they can prove that you were driving. My roomate always street races and runs from the cops. They have got his plate numbers a couple of times. When he goes in he just says he wasent driving his car. He just says he always leaves his keys in it and lets people borrow it, and it could have been anybody.

kid, you broke a law that's actually around for good reason (not killing little kids) and now you bitch about it? suck it up and deal with the fact that you made a stupid decision by not paying attention and apparently not seeing the giant yellow automobile stop in front of you.

busdrivers have no legal authority! it doesnt matter. Contest it! the worst that would happen is that the charges remain the same. and no, passing a school bus is not set in stone. if the cop doesnt show up to his court date, IT DIDNT HAPPEN! Even if the cop does, they may find it invalid because the only whitness was the bus driver (who could have a haterid for this kid who used to cause all sorts of trouble on his bus....)

Because a kid could be walking around the front of the bus to go to his house on the other side of the street.............................................and welcome to the end of the thought process!

More like 8 or 9 Demerits and 800$. I believe it's tied with street racing.
And whoever doesn't see why it's such a big deal is clueless.
Busses are too tall and wide, you can't see infront of them for shit.
My father said he once saw a girl get run over and killed in an incident like this, that's why it's just one of those things you don't do.
Also, a bus driver will almost never wave you past him with his lights on. If he does it's a trick or he's actually giving signal to the kids to cross in front.

In NZ we have to slow down to 20k to pass school buses, but they stop on main roads and shit and nobody even budges down from the max (100k)... in rural areas you just have to drive 50 anyway

I love not havign schoolbusses in Europe (well...at least in my region) at all. What a stupid idea is that anyway? Kids taking public transportation is the way to go. That way only the people who realyl do need the bus to get to school pay for it. Not the whole district. Plus you can run down any idiotic child who runs into your way just like any other retarded pedestrian. And you can pass them too. I dig it

Public transportation doesn't exist in most places.
Also couldn't you just say that you didn't pass the school bus? Its your word against the bus drivers, and I mean if they're driving a bus they probably fucked up somewhere along the line.
