is there a way to enter a ski races like without paying 10000$ for being in some kind of organization like an open or something cuz I found out that Im not bad: owning my sister who finished 11th in the provincial championships and owning canada/american national team ski racers at a skiercross. or I'll just enter the father-child race as my sis "father" or just go forerun races. + I took my dads skis for preseason sessions (I'm an instructor) first time I used sharp edges in a long time...the dude told me I coul pas my level 2 and 3...which is insanely good...giving ski classes to ski instructors and IM a 17 years old park skier...wtf?
provincial level is pretty good I assume and national teams too...last time I checked. I surely wont be able to do slalom because I have no clue how to hit gates, but gient slalom and downhill...I would see myself...not at the olympics, but still, with training, we never know, a lot of racer have absolutely NO ambivalence or whatever its called (Im francophone) and suck my balls in moguls and everything else other than perfectly groomed or icy terrain. (almost been hit by a level 3 coach skiing out of control in small bumps this w-e) but I want to make a clear point: i KNOW THEY TRAIN A LOT FOR YEARS AND ARE MASSIVELY GOOD. but I still think I might have some talent.
If you think you have talent why not ski with a coach for a day or two so they can assess your potential. I think you have to be a member of a ski club to enter any provincial series.
Also what level is your sister in? Girls are no good until at least Junior level, in Juvenile they are terrible and slow even the best ones, because they weigh like 80 pounds.
dude... get onto it soon... 17 is pretty late to be starting a racing career..... also maybe you should try having a race with a GUY and someone your own age that has raced.... then see where you are at! best of luck!
Slalom is certainly the most technical event of the 4 racing disciplins, but whatever you do, don't underestimate the technicality and talent needed to do speed events like super-g and downhill. In my opinion these events are the most fun, but you can't just jump right in to them without knowing what you're doing and having A LOT of practice. So certainly get some coaching and a lot of training under your belt before you try to tackle the more "dangerous" aspects of racing. Well, that's my two cents, best of luck to ya, hope all goes well...
17 years old? Try Nastar? qualify and go to the Nationals, if you win there easily, you might then consider entering the USSA as an independant and see how you do there next year. If you are a natural, someone will pick you up and guide you the rest of the way. Good Luck!
im pretty sure u can enter FIS races as an individual but you need a fis card i think and once u ahve that you can ebter any races i raced last year and there were lek 40 year old guys who would jsut show up so ya you probably could enter a few races but it might cost you a bit
im not sure n the rules in canada but you coud try independent racing, theres no way not to be part of the orgnization to enter, they are open races but in america at leaset you need to have a USSA ID.
Giant Slalom still involces alot of tech, and there is still hating gates involved, i have some bruises on my arm from GS racing with my HS from last night, it is still a very hard discipline, as is Super G and Downhill, try holding an edge on your ski at 100km/h for super g, 130km/h on downhill its insane how strong those guys legs are.
Start out small, try racing with your high school, or take part in some mountains locals race night, most places have them.
