Bern Helmet

This is jus to educate people who keep asking question if the helmet is safe or not and for all those people who say it offeres minimal protection because it is a hard hat.

Most helmets that are on the market have a hard foam in them that break on impact to save your head. The problem is after one bad crash the helmet is really inaffective and you should not be using it.

The Bern Baker uses a soft foam that does not break and is meant for you to be able to take continous hit on the head without the helmet being ruined. This sis good for newschool skiers cuz on craches they often hit their head (not neccessarily hard) This means that the Bern Baker helmet is actually one of the best helmets on the market right now for newschool skiing

im not posting it too make it look better jsut soo many people post asking about it and other helmets jsut wanted to clear things up

I have to say Bern helmets look really sick, but I wonder if the softer foam inside will provide enough impact absorption when you have really really nasty hard crashes. Despite what people commonly...think the hard foam in most helmets have very low energy transfer (which is good, because if energy is transferred directly to your head, it'll be like a peach smashed on the ground) that's why the helmets are destroyed when there's large impacts because they dissipate all the impact that would otherwise have cracked your head in half...

Anyways....Do helmets with hard foams become unusable after some light, medium impacts? I thought it takes quite a bit of force to actually break them to the point that they will not absorb much of the impact forces.

paul, the bern helmet says it offers minimal protection because it did not pass the standard tests used for helmets. so basically what bern is telling you is that if you end up getting a massive head injury while wearing their product, you're basically SOL
