Friday Night Expression Session Series
Every other Friday night at Boreal Mountain Resort is your chance to join in one of Tahoe’s longest-running action sports event series – the Friday Night Expression Sessions.
The bi-weekly freestyle evening event invites skiers and snowboarders, of all ability levels to try out Boreal’s most prized park, signature features, and the only superpipe in Tahoe that’s groomed twice every 24 hours. Boreal’s Friday Night Expression Session calendar with selected feature and formats is as follows:
January 5 – Wallride Jam.
Boreal’s wallride will kick off the first of six Expression Sessions. Competitors with the best bag of tricks will be judged on skill, creativity, and style.
January 19 – Rail Jam.
This week’s Expression Session will incorporate a variety of Boreal’s rails and funboxes on which competitors will be judged on trick difficulty, style, and fluidity throughout the entire run. The Rail Jam Expression Session is also a qualifier for the Jeep Terrain Park Challenge. Qualifying events will be held all across the nation at 75 various resorts, and the top 24 athletes compete in the Jeep Terrain Park Challenge Championships, held at Lake Tahoe in March of 2007.
February 2 – Face-Off.
The Face-Off Expression Session will be a one-on-one format competition in which two selected terrain park features will be placed side-by-side, and two competitors will aim to out-perform each other with the best trick. Competition will mirror the NCAA’s Final-Four elimination format, so start your pools now!
February 16 – Slopestyle.
A classic Slopestyle course will be the venue-of-the-week for this Expression Session, and judges will award top athletes by how great they show their skills down an entire run of boxes, rails, and jumps.
March 2 – Superpipe.
Held in Boreal’s marquee feature, the superpipe, this Expression Session is anticipated to be a premier show of talent. Boreal’s newly installed superpipe night lights will become the limelight for local and regional athletes to turn it on for the crowd in this Olympic-quality venue.
March 16 – Signature Night.
Boreal’s sponsors like Planet Earth and Liberty Skis will be showcased at this event, and Boreal’s best features, which have been masterfully designed and topped off with insane graphics are a competition best-bet this week, will be the used for Signature Night. These tricked out features are of photo shoot quality, and inspire athletes clad in fashion show threads to pull off perfect tricks.
The first 50 skiers and snowboarders to register each week will compete in each Expression Session. Helmets are required to compete. Event age groups will be decided upon depending on rider and category registration. Competitors 18 years of age or younger will need a parent/guardian to sign a liability form. Entry fee for each Expression Session is $5, not including lift ticket or season pass. Registration will be from 3:30-5:00 pm just at the Group Sales office in the main lodge. The official event start-time is 5:30pm. Award ceremonies follow immediately in the main lodge. Competitors win gear provided by more than 40 Expression Session sponsors. Competitors receive free pizza with registration.
