how to fix your poles

from what i know, there is 2 ways of fixing your poles that requires little money:

1)steal rentals

2)find some sort of wood dowel that is just big enough to fit tightly inside your pole, about 4-6 inches long should be fine. then, hammer the wooden dowel so that half of the dowel is in each part of the pole. then duct tape around that area where a little bit of the wood is visible, this keeps the water out (so it doesnt weaken the wood by rotting) and strengthens the pole overall. you should have a strong, reliable pole now, and it should only be slightly heavier. ill also put this tip in an article, ive done this about 2 or 3 times now, and untill the wood breaks, it should work awesome....

The one time my pole broke I just grabbed a branch out of the woods and broke it to the make size as my pole.
Ya but what ya do is when your the last off the hill, just check all the ski racks for single poles people have left behind and stuff, I've already for 4 my pole length.
I have 2 sets of poles, every single pole different but the same length. Later.

my poles are more bent up than you can imagine..

If you put wood in your poles they would be all heavy, off-balanced and wierd feeling...better stick to stealing rentals.

actually, you cant even notice, it only adds like one ounce to your poles, if that throws you off balance, you suck at skiing

buy composite or grafite poles... i broke like 3 pairs of metal last and have yet to break my composites, and they arent that much more expensive than metal poles

me: the guy behind the counter, i think his name was matt. Ya well he seemed pretty cool, didn't do much talkin. Got right to business; helped me with what i needed. Damn was he a good one. He coulda sold me some 10 year old skis if he wanted.

i used to have GOODE poles and they wee a little heavier but they didnt break until it shattered when i hit a tree and they lasted dor 3 years before that

man you guys got it all wrong when you brake poles go 'shopping' walk up to a rack with poles you like go I like these poles pick them up and walk away.

Oh, ya, stealing poles is good, until yours get stolen, you get your ass kicked, and you realize that stealing is wrong. I'd rather pay for new poles than steal em and make someone else pay for my crime.

ya, stealing from other skiers isnt cool... but i think theres no problem stealing rental poles, they suck anyway, and deserve to be stolen

All you have to do is ski the trail under a beginner lift and pick up one of the many rentals that the beginners drop.

Ya get the 1970s neon yellow and pink Lekis and go off in the woods and hit sum cliffs now thats how to ski with style lol ;)

I wrote an article for freeskier exactly how you described it 2 seasons ago. Except i used a metal rod instead or wood, it is less likely to break. And you can add superglue or some kind or super strong epoxy to each end that is in the pole to keep it there, so it won't slide out, and the duct tape is a good idea for extra stregnth and water proofing.
