AG-dvc30 by panasonic, you can find it for under 1,000 bones at its pretty legit.
entry level 3ccd camera, nice size and weight. Good picture, nice colors, manual controls.
i have it and im really satisfied with the way its preforms.

Look at one of the panasonic gs-series cameras.
Or a canon optura 10 or 20.
