I felt that they did a pretty good job of following the books storyline. A few things were left out, like all movies modeled after books, but overall it was well done.
I am a huge fan of this story, so I might be being a little optomistic; don't let me sway your opinion.
This story, although fiction, inspires us to think beyond the boundary of society and religion.
What's your take on the whole idea of church cover ups, a holy blood line, and such?
I find it intriguing...

I'm ignorant. I'm not the one listening to a guy who thinks that a book written 1500 years ago about a guy who might have not even lived 2000 years ago is fact. You are the delusional and ignorant one.
You are a shining example of religious intolerance.
By the way I'm like six feet tall kid I would kick your ass.

ya you are right but I still feel pretty poorly about them. They preach tolerance and practice hate. They are pretty bad. And covering up the molestation of children. Fucked up. Any way look at religion with a rational eye. Christianity was created to control and unite people against a common enemy. It is completely bogus and foolish.
Think about it this way. More people have died in the name of Jesus (the pacifist) than any other man in history ever.

I am the shining example of religious intolerance!?
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? YOU are the one who called out Catholicism and 'religion in general'.
WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO JUDGE A RELIGION YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!
How the fuck does having faith in something make me ignorant!?
YOU KNOW NOTHING.
I would be able fuck your day up whether you were 8ft tall or 6ft tall and with a broken back! I can fight. You have no clue what I could do to you. I would lay your ass flat out and not think twice about it.

I did read it. I have a different opinion than you. That does NOT make me ignorant in any way.
Any who I wasn't quoting anything and I really could fuck your day up.

I'm sure you are super good at fighting over the internet dude.
I accept that you have a different opinion. I also accept that your opinion is foolish. As I said before I really do suck at fighting and the few fights that I have been in I have been so drunk that I don't even remember them the next day but if you want to get all tough over the fucking internet that is your deal.
But seriously my dad would kick the shit out of your dad.

You're both pretty ignorant; if you haven't figured out by this point in your life, I'll let you in on a little secret. *people believe in different stuff and you're just gona have to deal with it instead of arguing about who's right and who's wrong... because there isn't a correct answer.

I never said anything about fighting over the internet.
Just because you think my opinion is foolish does not make it so.
And my dad is dead.

Oh John, how silly to get all hyped up over a bunch of no-brain idiots taking any bit of the garbage in those books seriously.
I read all four of the Dan Brown books and found them repetitive and predictable. Although I knew the content was complete bull shit, the first book of his I read (I think it was Deception Point), I found somewhat entertaining, but by the time I finished the fourth (read all four in four or five-day period), I was much more than burnt out on the author.

I mean I'm just playing devil's advocate here. But is there like a "secret council of prose" or something of that nature that determined a long time ago what is considered "good" writing? Because I was under the impression that popular favor reflects the cultural value of something. My grandfather and his friends think that modern rock music is terrible. But there are a lot of kids think the swing music he listened to as a kid in the 1940's is garbage. I just don't think that a group of phd's have any business telling people what is "good".
Clearly paris hilton is not as skilled as a musician such as someone like Neil Peart. But nobody has any place to judge the artistic preferences of someone else. And something cannot become cultural until it is accepted by a lot of people.

There's a difference between preference and taste. In other words, there is a certain standard of quality that transcends genre. There is good swing music from the 40's, and bad swing music from the 40's. There is good modern rock, and there is Nickelback.
PHDs don't determine a standard of taste, they determine canonicity based on that standard of taste. Those with a broad reading base, that is, find books which are well written, and assemble a canon. They don't determine what good writing is, they recognize it. If anyone determines what makes "good" art "good", it's aesthetic philosophers.

great fictional story. keyword there is FICTIONAL STORY. its so easy if you have a vast imagination to come up with something like this...many christians do it very frequently(myself included). we can make up things that sound reasonable and start to believe themm but that doesnt make it true. the only thing thats true is what you believe in your heart. if you're a christian, its the bible and its teachings. if you're just someone whoe's never been properly exposed to the gospel, this story may seem very believeable, mainly because its so full of controversy and adventure. IT SPARKS IMAGINATION. so whatever your opinion, good for you.
***just remember before the movie was even thought of, the author put the book out as FICTION. in other words he didn't believe it himself. he just had a very good idea about how he could alter the thoughts of the bible and in return, make a LOAD of money and cause one of the biggest controversial fights today in the world of movies. so again, great FICTIONAL STORY.

^ that kid has it.
The idea of such a cover up is very intruiging, exspecially when he vididly paints a perfect, world changing scandoul. People will want to believe it.
The facts, however, is that none of the premises of the story are true. Some start with truth: there was in fact a Council of Nicea but all they did was state a confession of faith, a statement to try to unify what being a Christian was at that time.
So as along as you realize its a fun fictional story, its ocmpletely harmless...
PS i thought the movie kind of sucked, it was like American Treasure but not as entertaining because they were serious about the story.
