Now lets consider the well known fact that the idea of twintips does come from skiboards manufactured by companies like line and salomon. Personally there is nothing I hate more than seeing some kid on skiboards with no poles, or with poles for that matter. Skiboards take the steeze out of both snowboarding and skiing all together. No skill is needed to skiboard and I trully think it's a waste of time. Nothing kills the flow of things on a hill more than someone on skiboards.
saying that it takes NO skill is just a lie. If you have actually been on skiboards and can say it takes no skill i assume you can throw down a 900 or something. spins are easier on it but landings definitely harder.
Do you have to take that literaly? No shit it takes SOME skill. The point I was trying to get across is that skiboarding is a thing of the past, its LAME.
doesnt change the fact that in terms of stylistic aesthetic, it looks terrible.
the fact that it is intrinsically linked to skiing is embarrasing. weve worked hard to create a sport in which style has been held an equal importance with progression.
I dont care if people can do a 900 on skiboards. It looks better on skis and we can do it bigger and into powder, and most importantly with style.
I tried on some skiblades thinking they'd be fun... holy shit man, I almost killed myself. Fucking things wobbling all over, some old lady passes me and goes, Hey, that looks like fun! I almost strangled her in the lift line. Anyone wtb some line skiblades? Seriously.
i've never ridden skiboards but they get ripped on so much at my hill. they never go into the park and its usually just the kids who can't afford skis or just suck. but i'm not tryin to dis on anyone who can't afford shit. i couldn't till i started workin
i've taught two of my friends to actually ski who were on skiboards a while back and they are still kissin my ass for me convincing them to get on real skis
honestly we have worked hard to turn skiing from not just a raceing and leisure sport into and dope extreme sport thats equal to snowboarding if not surpassing it in terms of steezyness, and snowblades kinda ruin the rep. But in fairness to skiboarders, there fun wen ur on small hills and shit but wen it comes to style we ( freeskiers) destroy everyone else.
I have a pair along with my regular skis. I keep em for those regular days of just groomed, theyre a lot of fun to just whip out every now and then and fuck around. Dont bash it until you've tried them.
i bladed for 7 years...when they first came out.......they're dope it really helps for learning tricks.....but i still push them over when i pass them :p
as long as the person is really good then there fine but its just the n00bs that have never skied bofore and go in the park thinking they are all that is what gives bladers a bad rap. Also you cantget nearly enough speed forhuge jumps in the park i have been to some parks where bladers are rarley allowed in befcsue of tht fact.
Yeah dude, skiblades are so lame. So are inline skates. And gay people. And foreigners. And emo kids. And one-foot grinds. And skiing with no poles. And racing. Lame, lame, lame, lame, lame, lame, lame, lame.
Oops. What I meant to say was, "Shut the fuck up."
woah. im not so sure taht twin tips came from ski boards at all. twin tips came from people wanting to progress in freestyle sking, and not eat shit when doing 540's. they kinda came from a snowboard. i mean when have you seen a snowblader riding dirty?
the peopl who have them are usually the kids who think they're cool, go into the park, and jump of the sides of jumps up to rails and do spread eagles while ther mom video tapes.
i rode them for a year, then realize full twins would be waaay more fun. i had been on shoddy rental equipment before then, so snowlerblades were soo sweet, and great for my backyard/tiny midwest hills. but once you start progressing at all, you realize it would be more fun with more length.
and snowlerblades with poles is the most retarded thing ever, hands down, no exceptions.
there really sketch, at high speeds there boarder line dangerous. and forget about landing huge jumps. and yes they are fairly lame, but kind fun at the same time. Great for screwing around on no doubt about that. Ive had some really good laughs while using snowblades.
All of the skiboarders I have seen are either 11 year olds or people on spring break who have never seen snow. If some little kid wants to jump off the side of jumps and do a spread eagle while their mom video tapes, they should be able to do that with out a bunch of older a**holes making fun of them. Some people go to the mounain to have a good time not to show everyone their "steeze".
ok so i was watching this kid on skiblads at my hill and he was goin to try and do a switch 180 and he went u p to the jump switch and triped over the lip of the jump probably the funnyest thing ive seen. they are fucking gay
YES! I think those were quite possibly the first skiboards I've ever seen. Those were just straight up hilarious. Especially when you see the people that ride them hit powder for the first time and faceplant themselves into unconciousness.
