sooo, i just bought some chronic wides and px12 ti lifters, both brand new...However the brakes do not fit the chronic wides...I went to my local shop to have them bend em and they say its against their policy -_-....So its already ski season and i dont feel like coming back so i almost had no other choice but to pay $50 extra bucks, plus the $40 for the shorter screws and the mounting...It was $50 more than what i had planned out....Fucking blows....Well, looks like my sister is S.O.L for christmas haha
what, then have wide brakes for px12s, and most shops through those away for free, and 40 bucks for screws, thats rediculous, shops normally have buckets of screws in the back, you must look like a complete gaper if they were able to pull that over on you
no no, i had heard from a few people that they would fit and a few said they would not, so they didnt fit as it turned out, and i get there and i asked if they had any that i could buy, so he said ya and they were $50. I had already missed 2 weeks of skiing b/c of waiting for my skis 2 ship so i just bought em...the mounting service cost like 38 and the screws like 2 so it wasnt 2 bad, just i was not planning on buying wider brakes
same here, ive never payed for a tune or a mount, then again im good buds with the guys who work at the shop, and they tune and mounted my skis when there boss wasnt there so they dont get in trouble. but 100 bucks for the mount is ridiculous, it takes about 5 minutes
ya it really was not that bad considering i live in ohio and i have to drive 30 minutes to get to my "local shop", so i really dont know ne of the guys who work there...but i mean it woulda been $37 if i would of had the brakes already....and i knew wide breaks were $$ so i was just kinda pissed about droppin the extra $50...but hey if it means i can ski next week then fuck, im down
yeah my shop charges the same if you bought your gear from somewhere else. it sucks for the people that have to pay that but it does help our sales when we tell people that mounting is free if the equipment is purchased from us. and $75 for about 15 min of work definitly helps profits.
just curious as to where you went to get your junk mounted? i live about an hour outside of DC.
ouch. I just paid $30 to get FKS 155 mounted on Karmas and that includes bending the brakes. Normal price they said was $60 but I bought new boots at that shop so they discounted some. Ski's/bindings were bought online.
oh ok yeah theres a ski chalet right by me in gaithersburg MD. i work at a smaller shop in olney MD. i should really tell my boss to drop mounting charges some so we can say well do it cheaper than chalet haha.
you paid for short screws? generally bindings with lifters come with a lil baggy of shorter screws from the factory, your shop didn't pay anything for them, that's fucked up. your shop sucks man take your business elsewhere next time.
damn you guys are getting shafted. Shops almost always have a ton of screws. its a bit of a hassle to find the apropriate screws at times, but the shop people get paid the same, and its not like it is all that difficult. $100 for a mount for about $5 worth of labor is rediculous.
well grinding them makes tem a lot more pronetos tripi youdont takeyour tme afterward.
anyway, ilike mounting my skis myself and just take my time if i need togrindorcutt somescrews.
Wow, you got shafted bad dude, fuck I mean, wide brakes...yeah those run about $50...but truthfully, I would've bent them myself before ever going in there to have them mount my skis up, and $40 for a screw set is fucking out of control. I'd never pay that much.
see you guys are getting the story mixed up....It would have been $35 for me to get my bindings mounted, thats including the cost for short screws....Ive already sat out 2 weeks to wait for my skis to come in, so once i got their, i did not feel like going home and bending my brakes and bringing them 40 minutes back to the shop...So i just decided to pay the $50 dollars for the wide brakes....The screws cost like $3, the mounting service was like $33...
I have rossi axial2s on my chronic wides... all I did was bend them out myself until they fit over the ski. It took no more than 10 minutes. It could have saved you $50.
Shops hate it when you buy shit off the internet and arent supporting their business so they will be sure to charge you for the mounting and if they can sell you the wide brakes they will do that too. they dont want to be reliable for bindings they mounted that arent up to standards. If you were to buy the stuff at the shop things would have been much cheaper and in the long run would have saved money.
see i would have bought from their shop but they had no bindings what so ever, and the only twin tip ski they had was the silencer, and it was like size 150 something...so that wouldnt of worked =\
The long and short of it is that you paid $50 for wide brakes, which is $20 more than I've ever seen someone charge or pay. You got worked bro but really only for $20 so it isn't THAT bad I guess.
