so last night me and my friend decided to accompany our other friend to the nintendo store to get a wii. we got there at 2:30 am, 5.5 hours before the store opened. we turned a corner to find a quater of a mile line already waiting. not teenagers, moms getting their kids shit. it was funny cuz they were acting fucking insane, they were cutting the line and buying unofficial spots at the front of the line for $150. we ended up getting one of the last wii from the shipment, its fucking nuts, these moms had taken days off and camped out three or four nights before.
moms gotta get their priorities straight now a days. having fucking video games raising their kids. my mom camped out to sign my brother and i up for swimming lessons when we were kids. thats something to stand in line for. not some fucking video game console.
agreed. i feel like an old man because i always feel like all these youngins are spoiled little shits who don't know how good they've got it. parents should'nt be doing this for their kids, there needs to be more parents like Red from that 70s show, that's how i'm going to be. this generation is obnoxious. 95% of the youth are disrespectful, spoiled, and lead pointless lives. i see all the 'gangstas' around my school with, i kid you not, a 0.67 GPA who think they'll be fine because they're either going to start a record label or work with their uncle at his garage shop (i kid you not again, i overheard one of these said 'gangstas' telling his guidance counselor that he's dropping out of high school to do just what i said previously). sorry i went off on a tangent here, but damn these kids, they need to be beaten, they have no idea how good they have it.
I feel like its ridiculous for parents to do this kind of stuff but at the same time I think I would do it for my kids. The only difference is that I would actually be playing the video games with my kids. When I bought the wii the lady behind me in line was buying one for her 8 year old. Everyone in line got tickets for the wii and you got them at the checkout line. At the checkout line she told the cashier that she needed her W-I-I. She spelled it out. She didn't even know what it was called.
My dad stood in line for me for 6 hours for the first Wii shipment because I was at work. When I got off at 10:30PM, I went up there and took his spot. And I paid for it...so really this isn't even the same thing...
the only reason me and my brother got a 360 for christmas last year was because my mom was returning something at best buy and the guy in front of him returned a brand new 360 and she just bought that. i was so lucky
all i wanted for like 5 years straight when i was a kid was the K'NEX rollercoaster...i never got it. and i didnt cry about it either so kids need to fuckin learn they dont always get what they want! thats how you raise brats!
Oh hell yes, my afterschool YMCA group had one, I remember it was like 7 feet tall (cause I was 10) and was THE coolest thign ever, how it goes all the different ways and stuff. Like 20 kids would work on it and finish it in a few days. K'NEX and Legos are 10,000 times better than video games, and I seriously thanks the companies that make them for improving my life and accelling my brain in so many ways.
And my mom would also just tell me to get fucked if I asked her to do that. Tell them theres a sale and Bed Bath and Beyond or something maybe, since I'm sure right after they buy it they will go back to the kitchen where they work and stay-at-home spoiling moms married to rich guys with white-collar jobs.
meets girl, "so where do you work.?"
"oh mainly from home i play computer games hours on end to make money"
i meet girl "so where do you work?"
"im a lifeguard, im responsible for peoples lives"
"wow thats amazing, please practice your artificial respiration on me"
well if you think about it thats pretty good if you make enough money off of it why not use a skill youre good at to make you money? youre good at swimming and thats making you money im good at driving at that makes me money so if youre good at playing games why not make money off of it? i mean ya WoW is pretty gay and i wouldnt play it but if i could make money off of it i would do the same
