make sure you can see them land. i hate when people shoot from above the jump and you can only see the first half of their jump... having good picture quality really helps, and so does good light, a steady hand or a tripod.

Watch lots of other homemade videos and ask yourself what sucks about them and then just dont do those things in your video.

actually i find that the cinematography is just as important than the skiing. If filming a shot that cuts off the landing means a more creative angle and innovative style, then I would much rather prefer it. Just look at TBC, a lot of the shots were filmed either sideways or started upside-down, but it flowed so well that it didnt seem like a burden and instead contributed to the overall aesthetic of the film.

Think of it this way: Imagine you have never seen a ski movie before and no other one has ever been made. You are now free to film any way you like without the burden of questioning your conformity to higher-end films.

Be creative, try new things, try things you've seen that you think are cool and do it your own way. It's really a self taught thing.
