use your tails to pop. Basicly jump as high and hard as you can when your heels are just leaving the lip. Stiff skis really help too. If you apply the power of your jump while the only ground contact is at your tails, the length/stiffness of the ski will act as leverage and multiply the power and contribute to the trajectory.

Since I'm still learning the basics behind this I'll chime in my 2 cents. In terms of "popping" it's all about timing and increasing your momentum as you hit a lip or jump. You can hit a jump without popping and be fine if you're going fast enough. To add extra height to your jump though you need to compress right before you enter the transition of the jump and when you feel yourself goin up you explode up but not so much that you actually leave the ground before you leave the lip. The best way I can compare it to is like jumping on a bed. You jump and when you land you compress along with the compression of the bed and as the springs push you back up you use your legs to increase the power of the springs to jump higher... same thing with "popping".

As for "ollieing", it's kind of the same concept as popping except you're using your ski's flex to do some of the work. Depending on how stiff your ski is will determine how much work you have to do. Ollieing is like bending a ruler to catapult an object at someone. The same way you pull the ruler back, you will lean back on your ski's tails in essence storing energy that will push back sending you up. How far you lean back to compress the tails will determine the height of the ollie. Here is were what you learned from popping comes into play. Just like you learned to "explode" at the right time before leaving the transition of the jump, you need to learn to compress and explode at the right time just as your ski's tails are pushing back after you've in essence compressed them. So bend your knes and use your weigh to lean back and flex your tails and just as the ski starts pushing back explode up and jump, and you have yoursel an ollie.
