most shops wont work on a ski after the 3rd drilling.
depends on the skis/placement of hole to determine how much the ski can really take. On most skis, the core will be pretty torn up after the third or fourth drilling. A few skis can handle 4 or 5 ok, but those are pretty much igneous, volkl explosivs or similar skis with metal under the topsheet, probably head m103...and a handleful of other skis.
assuming they are park skis, I would stop at the 3rd drilling

A friend of mine had a ski with 32 holes (yes, in one ski) and didnt have a single problem. Its all about how you do it.

i once had a race ski and my holes were the 7th set on them, i talked to my old tech a few weeks ago because i got my skis remounted cause the shop where im from messed up, and he said it doesent matter, even it you are using the same old holes, just helicoil them and you will be set. i might add this guy has worked on skis for bode miller and darron rahlves. so i trust what he says.

its a matter of how the holes have been plugged and where the holes are drilled...
I had a pair of first gen publics with 4 sets of holes on them, and they lasted 2 seasons before I snapped them off behind the heel...a problem people have had even on the first drilling...

What kiind of difference does it make though with too many holes? Does the the flex change or does the ski just snap in 2 or what does it matter? By the time I'm on my 3rd drilling my skis are usually too beat up anyway.
All times are Eastern (-5)
