I live in Wisconsin and i wont go outside of minnesota and michigan probably, so i was wondering if the spk boots can handle the runs i have here besides just the park, cause what i hear they are a little soft laterally but their flex (but they fit soo well to my feet) is the same as the foil which i just bought and i am having second thoughts because when i am just in my boots and i try to stand on my toes, my heel slips up and yes, the boots are the right size, so can someone help me out whether i should get rid of my foils and get the spks or find a solution to my foil problem. Thanks
i just bought spks, stiff boots have a stigma attached to them that they are the only ones that can handle out of park terrain.
I just bought spks, they fucking rule, everywhere on the mountain.
Im 210 pounds, and am pretty strong in the legs, and i found them crazy nice in steep crud, and on super hard pack. dont think about it just do it.
theyre insanely light too... unless youre hugo harrison youll be rad in them.
to solve your heal problem, have you ski shop put beds in the bottom of the plastic boot (not in the liner) so it raises your feet up and your ankle will lock against the boot whre its supposed to. they did that for me and its good now, itll also stop shinbang because the entire boot flexes with your whole shin, whereas before only the top part of the boot was hitting your shin. but be carfeul on super impact landings. i dropped a cliff onto a rock and flexed so far forward that my shin touched my toe, and i tore some legiments in my ankle
i bought the spks and there the best boot that ive ever had. in the park they they are adviosly sick but i was surprised on how well they preformed out of the park as well. i was a little iffy about my decision before i rode them because i wanted to ski everywhere on the hill but they can handle out side of the park quite nicely, id say you get them
I was skiing down a steep face and shoots with my SPK boots and my jps. As long as you aren't straighting it like nobis or dropping cliffs like julian carr then you're ok.
I have the SPKs and ride mostly park, but last week I got the opporotunity to take them to the mountains, and they handled everything fine, even trees and powder. From what it sounds like you'll be riding, they should be fine for you.
