the only thing about cypress that is good is you can get the easy rider pass and they only check at the gates so you can ski the entire moutain for cheap.
But I wouldnt bother, its my least favorite hill ever! And Ive been to some ghetto hills.
I went to cypress today they have 2 45 foot tables, a 20 foot table, an urban rail, flat down flat rail, hip thing, barrel jib, flat box, flat down flat, flat down, flat down down. The tables are actually really nice though, their in like this jump line right under the chair and are pretty smooth
I've been saying it for years, if Cypress built their park right they'd have the best one on the shore and it's always empty. They area under the Cypress Mt Quad... I forget what it's called, Sunrise or something. Anyway, most perfect spot for a park on the Shore. Way better than sidecut.
BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Actually I think Cypress is the best mountain on the North Shore and now that the managers are actually taking time in the park and are putting good money into it, it could possible be the best on the shore next year. Firstly the mountain itself is great with the most terrain. Yeah Sunrise is slow, but only for now cause theyre putting in a new high speed quad there next year which will make a significant difference. If you havent seen the park then you definetly need to. Two good booters, two med sized hips, a qaurter, and then a bunch of rails and boxes. Also gonna be taking over Halfpipe and sticking more booters and other goodies there. It will be sick. I do agree on the pricing of tickets. They should cheapen it up.
your wrong! the jumps were good yes, but there was no knuckle, the deck went into the landing way to slowly. the rails at cypress. fuck. they are the tiniest peices of shit in the world. they are set up well yeah, but sooooo small. the hip has to flat of a runup and the wallride is decent but again, very small. cypress has improved their park but there is no way you can claim it to be the best mountain on the shore for park or anythign.
Doesn't a season's to Cypress run about 600 bucks? Like... double what either of the other mountains charge us? So why would it even matter if their park was the "best on the shore"? No one's paying that.
Well hand over the papers to any mountain on the North Shore that says they get to be one of the venues for the 2010 Olympics and theres no way in hell that mountain isnt going to crank up the prices. I know theyre ridiculous and way too overpriced, but I was just making the point of the park actually being something worthwhile nowadays rather than before when it was pretty crap with nothing but really small short rails and small little kickers. I know the rail selection still isnt the greatest but at least the park is getting bigger and better and there are sizeable hits here and there. As far as saying that Cypress is the best on the shore I meant that as in the whole mountain altogether with variety of terrain, amount of terrain and now that the park isnt shat. As far as there being not enough downhill before the hip or quarter, that is still obviously a work in progress as they will end up making that roller bigger so you can gain more speed to those two. Anyway, fuck the "who has the best park" talk, lets go skiing.
they were overpriced before vancouver even thought about bidding for the olympics, they dont have any decent sized rails. they are all still short and stupidly easy. yeah they have more hills for skiing, but no backcountry and not much cliffs or antyhign fun. sweet if i want to go practice my bumps or carving on some sweet runs i'll know where to go. this is a park oriented website(yeah backcountry shit too but mainly freestyle backcountry and big mtn shit you get the point) so for the people on this site its not the best. the jumps still aren't big, they have a 30 or 40 footer. SWEET. they aren't bad but not good. a bigger roller wont fix the speed issues. unless they build it like 30 ft taller. its simply a poor location to have a hip. the park is good for beginner riders who dont want to really push themselves. oh and congrats for cypress being an olympic venue. hopefully we can hike the pipe for free but not bloody likely. im glad seymour isn't an olympic venue. please everyone go see cypress's aewsome olympic venue. seymour is a shithole and lets keep it that way. a shithole with gnarly rails and crappy jumps on.
Lets not stop this discussion, i am bored. i am home from skiing (yeah i go on NS after or before skiing not instead of going skiing. and for you to say that after typing a paragrahp as long as i just did is ridiculous. screw this guys lets just go ski cuz im to good for internet discussions
i went skiing. i got a core shot. so i got the dude in the shack to ptex gun it. i paid with a cookie. then i looked at my ski next run... make it dave did... he told me it was gone. i thought he was shitting me. he wasnt. in conclusion, im a goon in the park.
I never meant to make Cypress sound like the shit. I know they have A LOT of work to do. I was simply saying that although Cypress has been crap in past years they are improving. Today I found out they put a new 50 footer and are continually adding more. No theyre rails certainly arent great and big, but surely if they give this much about the park theyre sure gonna get more and better ones.
Yeah Im sure Seymour would be a great venue. With all its 100 meters of vertical and its three shat lifts. Im sure it would be delight. Oh and what about Grouse. Yay Grouse. The morons who designed that shit should lose their jobs. I mean starting with one of the lowest base heights on the shore and then making nearly all your runs go DOWN from that, wow, genius. Oh yay and then I can stand in a box as I ride the completely packed gondola with the hundreds of other tourists that I just spent avoiding on the runs. I dont like hating on the other mountains, but just so you know what your missing on them since you seem to know Cypress so well. Oh how did you know I spend my time before, after, and even sometimes during my skiing on NS (I use my cellphones for updates while on the lift) quick and handy! And as far as the lets go skiing part, I average about 100 days a year on my skis and about 150 or so on snow so for me contributing to threads isnt the norm and why squable about skiing when you can be doing it.
WALK OFF!! thats the only way this can be settled. choose your cypress crew and the other locla mtns will get theirs.
seymours lifts are for longer bonding time. grouse is awesome becuase its so bad. thats why seymour is awesome too. because they know they suck and the people there are awesome. the skiers at grouse are awesome. the people at cypress are hate filled fucks. congrats on skiing a lot. you'd be suprised how many people put in about 100 days skiing though so its not all that wicked. im bored and dont remember what you typed so im going to go because i am doing what i love to make fun of, bickerin on NS. damn i have stooped to a low level of entertainment. have fun on cypress 150 days this yr. enjoy the rain
Have you met the park crew on Cypress? Have you personally hung out with them? They and 90% of the rest of the employees at Cypress arent hate filled fucks. Who you are refering to is the owners, which I dont mean to sound mean, but are American. I know what you mean by the "cozy" feel of Seymour. I learned to ski and skied there for my first 3-4 years and learned a lot hiking the Mushroom park over and over. It was fun.
go wear your helmet in the park to hit your 2 foot rails....and as 4 the jumps that have no knuckle on them and u cant get enough speed 4 (i guess its a fun beginner park)...go wear a helmet 4 those too ...and go get you pass cut when u duck a rope on a pow day....im not even gonna mention the problems the high-speed chair creates when everything gets tracked out in 30 min ....and they r gonna install another 1 next year....on the bigger part of the mountain where there is more terrain ...so it can all get tracken in 45 min. thats DOPE...go ride your mountain with ski partol (safety 1st) dont go too fast on the green runs...and finally go pay $650 for a season ....hahahaha...have fun buddy....you can find me @ seYmour
Seymour has so many fun runs... I love it there... represent!
but to get a ride to Cypress, just find someone online who rides there and bum a ride off them. I did that once, and hitchhiked back down... in a van that ran on vegetable oil. That was weird.
Anywho, the shuttle bus costs like $20 or something, and I'm pretty sure it runs on fossil fuel.
in all honesty. i wouldnt want to see a high speed quad on a hill smaller than whistler. slow ass chairs are where its at. snow lasts longer, more gay man love bodning time, and it slows down the whole atmosphere of the resort.
seymour does have great terrain. the the mountain as a whole blows rectum. seymour wins hands down.
in honour of this much debated topic of whose crew kicks whose crews ass, and which mountain is better than which mountain, I am beginning to plan a battle of the mountains competition to finally allow people to man up and battle it out mountain vs mountain. it will be a team event, in the summer or next year. its in the very beginning stages but it will be big i promise you. you heard it here first. begin the hate
I really wish Seymour had free transit up the mountain. I'm still passing there next year but that's the only thing making me hesitant about doing so. Hitching up works... but not at all hours of the day.
You guys are retarded, Seymour's park... way way better, I can actually throw rodeos off thurrr booters. But Cypress is pretty dope, maybe ya'll is too young to hit up the bar after, but I go to cypress bar where all my boys work and get trashed, sums up a good day of riding. I go to Seymours bar and ask for a pitcher and they give me 3 bottles, I ask for a jager bomb and they say no! I ask for any sort of hard liquor and they say no. I say can you put on the hockey game, they say no. I say can you put on some tunes and they say yes, but it's some homosexual ambient trance shit that makes my pee pee very very soft. I'm gonna get a job in the park and make cypress sick!
