Alright so i'm pretty frusterated here, I got my ski's stolen from Stowe yesterday and I dono what to do, im ridin on some old ones but still sucks. what can i do? stowe wont take responsibility obviously and do i contact police? i talked to some dumbass at the desk who knew nothing, does stowe have some sort of a policy or program to help find out more about my skis or what? does anyone have any idea? what do the resorts do...??? seems like it would be a good thing tohave in place so shit like this doesnt happen.... also if im buyin some used skis on here how can i guarantee theyre not stolen? probably cant but anyway to figure it out or get a clue? i dont wanna support any ski stealing bastards
Sounds like you might be outta luck, theres not alot they can do unless the person who took your skis is a real dumbass, and shows up at your mountain with them on. But other than that, there isnt much they can do, sorry, wouldnt hurt to contact police or just tell people on your mountain to keep a look out.
you should start by posting on ns what kinda skis they were, but I think it'd be pretty hard to track them down, especially since I'm guessing you dont know the serial number so it's kinda hard to claim that they're yours even if you find them... that fuckin sucks dude. what kind were they?
Ive read 2 stolen ski threads in like 5 minutes. Invest $20 and buy a ski key. Its small, no combos to remember, they have the ski key racke EVERYWHERE! There are douche bags everywhere that will steal stuff...so start by locking up your skis and forcing them to look somewhere else!
i know some fuckers stole my ski bag last year in MN, my dad was walking inside to pick me and my bro up, he apparintly droped my ski bag on the way in (he was carying two ski bags) and some fucker riped it off. and my bro got his new obenmyer coat riped off last year. if i ever catch any fucker taking someones shit i will put them in thier place and so should anyone else. DONT CONTRIBUTE TO STEALING!! even people who leave thier shit overnight, it isnt up for grabs, they just forgot it.
yep mine were stolen at killington - i filled out a police report at guest services at the mountain with a description of the skis, estimated value, etc. they keep a record of it at the mountain and file the report with the police in case anything turns up. it really helps if you had any markings on the skis like stickers. ask your parents what kind of homeowners or renters insurance they have - sometimes it covers theft away from home and you'll get a check for the value of the skis. that's what i was told as i was filling out the police report at least so that's what i'm looking into now. good luck, it sucks for sure. i just bought a pair of last years triplets to replace the pe's.
ya it sucks big time they were my old school line skogen's the first ones with the ships on the back... not many people still ridin em, they have salomon b indings on em and hopefully some guy breaks his leg on em...
so out of all the new skis that were around he stole your like 4 year old skis. this right here proves it was some dumbass prob form the city or something. that really sucks but i dont think you will be fiding them.
i write down the cerial number of my skis..and allert all the shops in your area..that way, if they go to get them remounted/adjusted, the shop will know that they are stolen..
contact all the local shops, tell them wats up, and any distinguishing marks. i.e., double mounts, unusual ptex spots or core shots, stickers, etc. check ebay and craigslist too. fuck em up if you find the guy
i have 2 locks that i always have on me because i bring 2 pairs of skis with me ususally when i ski, and the one im not skiing on i have locked up with some freakin burly steel bike lock stuff and one of those master combo locks, and i really wrap them up so im totally comfortable with my skis when im not using them. and if i ever go in i do the same thing to my other pair, or i just bring them in with me, but yea i have pretty nice expensicve setups (scratch bc's/ look p10's, and 07 invaders,/look px12ti's) and i dont even want to risk one of my pairs being stolen, i work hard for my money and dont want some queer to steal it all. if i even saw a kid walking off with my skis i would not be too impressed whatsoever, after he got beat down i would call the police or ski patrol or something.
but u can easily find locks for $12 that work, just buy one and never worry again.
Sorry to hear about it man..I know all the suggestions are small comfort after the fact..but here's mine anyway...
I use the ski check at Killington..it's only a buck with a season pass and it's way easier than locking..plus, I don't go in that much anyway.. I migh try one of those ski keys..it sounds like a good idea.
ya what happened when my bike got stolen was i had to give list of parts and shit to a bike shop and it got appraised but there was a cap , even though it was worth 2800, they had a 1000$ cap on bicycles so that was the most i could get.
