haha. NO man, a stone structure refers to the pattern that you get put into the bases of your skis. It's usually done by a machine, more than likely a Wintersteiger machine to be exact. Certains ones are: linear, cross cutt, chevrons, or combinations. Any recommendations by anyone that knows what I'm talkin about?
structure isn't going to affect pow riding too much. structure is used mainly for racing, on harder snow surface. different patterns will help throw water and slush better than others. But at a high speed. What is really nice about stone grinders is if you have a good tech, it will get the ski very close to perfectly level base, taking out hills and valleys. A stone can make a base better than factory, skis being massed produced can tend to have minor imperfections ski to ski. For pow, i would concentrate a lot more on wax and specific temps and humidity of the conditions you will be in.
haha thats too complex,, just let your bases rot, then theyre hard as rock and never need anything. seems stupid as shit, but then you try it and youre like.. wow, all that money i wasted on base grinds, etc.
right right. I've been a tech for a few years and its just that me and one of my managers have been having a debate on what pattern would work best. You're probably right though, I should probably not even worry about the pattern so much, and stay focused on the waxing. We're pretty much splitting hairs now, and probably sound like some overly technical race techs.
