Okay, I have a pair of MSPs and they're almost center (really close) and I find to carve them I have to have a much more upright stance than on other skis. Honestly, I think you should mount at least an inch back. I think that center mounting helps park less than it hurts all mountain performance.
My AR5's were center mounted by the previous owner and they have no problem carving, my next pair of skis will be at recommended though since I don't spend the majority of my time in the park.
i have center mount invaders, i wouldnt recomend mounting true center if you ski a lot of pow, but works wonders in the park, skiing switch is so much better and spinning is a lot more smooth
You should really think about how much time exactly you would spend in the park..a lot of people tend to overestimate, and also keep in mind that, youi'll be skiing regularly on your way to the park too, so unless you really plan to spend your day there, don't go true center. As nomensteven said, it really does affect your edge hold and all that, but that doesn't mean you can't turn with them, they just tend to skid and slide around a little bit more, if you have them true centered, don't worry because you'll adapt to them. Although it'd probably be a good idea to mount a little back if you like charging
i love how people buy invaders as a pow/ big mountain ski. I mean they are awesome for the fact that they are a really soft easy to ski inexepensive park ski, but you guy need to learn that there are other skis on the market
do you think moving your bindings forward alittle bit but not a true center would make a big difference .. i have k2 silencers and ski about 50/50 mountain and park
Center will be different on different skis according to the sidecut. For example mounting an Addict true center will be fine because its a true twin. Yet mounting say an AR6 true center will be too far up and the narrowest part of the waist will be behind your binding thus making it harder to carve (not impossible but it will be more squirly).
who ever said there is no difference (feel wise) between a true center and a reg. mount is a tool. Step out of the park on some reg mounted skis, then some true centers, and actually carve PROPERLY. If you half ass your turns, you wont care at all what skis you ride. If you are actually concerned about performance, you will notice a difference.
just mount them 2 back from center if you're that obsessed with where they are mounted it will still make no more difference in the park and it will still ski good thats where a lot of recomended points are on park skis unless they are simetrical
I mounted my ar6's at about -2 from true and they ski great in the park and pretty crappy all mountain. The dont hold an edge great but hey thats the way i wanted them i would reccomend getting them mounted at reccomended.
my ar6s are -2 cm from true and they are sick. they dont hold an edge very well, but are still pretty fun all mountain and in the park I gurantee you can't tell the difference between -2 and true center.
i have triplets centre mounted and i didnt feel any difference in fact it kinda felt easier...but that may be becuase i had shit skis last year...i would go centre mount it helps spinning, rail blance, buttering, almost everything DOPE SHIT SON
invaders, however are an anomaly. they are symmetrical, with the true waist of the ski(narrowest point) at the true center of the ski. if you mount a ski too far past the true waist, it will completely fuck up the way it skis. that's not to say you can't hold an edge, it will just be way less stable.
this guy speaks the truth...DO NOT centre mount MSP's, it drastically reduces the turning performance of the ski, as it will have way too much tail to carve well (the MSP freeride point still gives you a lot of tail). Ask 4FRNT themselves and they will tell you that if you're using the MSP in the park less than 70% of the time to go for the freeride line.
i went from TM's mounted core center to fujatives mounted core center to TM's mounted true center and the difference between core and true center was drastically different. Skis mounted true center are sooooooooo good for park it's insane how good and they are so much more responsive switch it's sick. They weren't as good going forward on groomers but they weren't bad, the biggest drawback was skiing them in pow.... with the TM when you're skiing pow the tips naturally dive and it's difficult to rock back onto the tails because they are so long and fairly stiff..... that's my two cents on center mounting.... hope it helps your decision a bit
Just get longer skis and center mount them. You can still carve good and shit. Just kinda have to ski with your weight center not back or forward or else you slip out.
Your race on public enemys? im sorry but you must really suck. I used to race and there is no way you could compete at all on center mount skis. There to soft to race on anyways.
Mine are way back at the moment on my scratch FS and but im thinking of remounting them to about -3 from true.
As they are, at reccommended, they ski like a race GS, really stable and fantastic on and off piste. Moving them forward will destroy this ability but turn them from being shit skiing switch to being amazing. Its all about what you want to do with your skis. If they are ONLY for park, then true centre or 2cm back from true. Otherwise they ski much better further back. Maybe 5cm back is a good compromise.
mount them centre or 2 back from center. if you ski in the park you will notice metal obstacles all over the place, if your worried about carving i would suggest worrying more about these metal obstacles instead of where your ski is mounted.
