So, just watched pierre drop 240 feet. Does it count as a legit drop if you land on your back and require the assistance of two people to get you out of the bomb hole? And besides that, what was that bullshit about "I want you guys to think about Jesus and him dieing on the cross for your sins!" @#$# that! In my mind that makes him akin to a suicide bomber screaming allah akbar before he blows himself up. Einstein said, "Man would indeeded be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death".
So second issue; is Pierre ballsy or just another religious zealot?

There's not much reasoning in spinning onto a long piece of metal without a helmet on either. Its just a different perspective like anyone else.

I think it's kind of stupid that he goes around expecting God to save him from himself, but at the same time it's his choice to do that and doesn't effect me in the least. Aside from being a little on the nutty side, I have nothing but respect for the guy. He hits cliffs 5 times bigger than anything I would ever consider hitting and somehow manages to get away from it unscathed. However, he does have a family and I think what he did just shows a lack of respect for them.

You know it would be physically impossible for anybody to land that, right? Even if he had taken the impact on his feet he would've sunk in so far there would be no way he could ski away. Landing a 40-50' cliff requires you to be completely on top of your game; a 250' cliff is just out of the question.

It is pretty apparent to me that the man gets his inspiration/courage from faith in God- keeping him safe, giving him the ability, letting him KNOW that he has the ability.

Hes a amazing skier, and the drops he hit are in another realm of sick, but he turned it into some gimmicky bullshit. God doesn't probe and check his landings, God doesn't tell him the right way to land, it just bothers me that he centers it around God so much. But then again, you need certain things to make you have full confidence that you will survive a 200+ foot drop.

that's a pretty little carrot to hang in front of someone's face. That kind of rationalization is very convienient. To go back to my original idea, the use of a supernatural afterlife is the same kind of motivation that helps suicide bombers blow themselves up. Pierre is therefore in the same category. When I drop something, it is with full knowledge that if I smack a rock or impale myself on a tree, my time is over. I'm not going to some beautiful paradise where everything is great. Lights out, dig. That perception of reality has a more grounded feel to me.

just to let you know, it doesn't take any skill to jump 245 feet. I've jumped 120 feet at lake powell....the only skill used was staying vertical and pullin in the arms. As for skiing, I am the same age as pierre and am quite sure I can keep up as long as we keep the drops to landable sizes. I don't spend my 100+ days up in the park. I do spend most safe days in backcountry and I do think droppin 245 feet is ridiculous.
