I'm thinking about going to Bridger Bowl in january because its cheap as hell, but i have to drive a shitload (20 hrs) to get to Bozeman. is it worth the drive?
well, considering bridger bowl isnt planning on opening this year until they get "significant snowfall", i would advise that you do not come here this year. If you do come, i hope you have skins, a beacon, a shovel and a probe because in order to get to the real terrain of Bridger, you need the last three items i mentioned. That is, if Bridger ever opens this year.
Yeah, I'd say it is worth the drive, but you should hit some other stuff up as well if you are coming out this far. Jackson, Big Sky come to mind, and you could swing through colorado and utah on the way back...
no, there over 60 miles apart in completely different mountain ranges. You are probably thinking of Moonlight and Big Sky, which share lone peak and now offer a joint pass called the Lone Peak pass, which gives you access to both resorts.
If I were you I would drive up to Jackson, figure out where the best snow is and go there. Either ski J-hole, Grand Targhee (on the cheaper side,) Big Sky, Moonlight or Bridger.
I would wait to see how the season plays out a little bit though, because right now is pretty sketchy snow-wise, up this way. I would check watch the weather and probably come out in March or something. I mean there are some decent spots to ski right now, but you have to be willing to do a lot of hiking. Actually I take that back, I haven't skied in a week and this week has been almost 40 and sunny like every day, so I dont know anymore.
Purpose of my trip in January: To go find good snow for really cheap, and to build the most glorious bc booter where i can have fun trying things i've never been able to do in a park. i've heard bridger can satisfy both of these. if anybody can think of a better place let me know, but cheap is the key word.
well bridgers definately cheaper than big sky/ moonlight. but there might be even cheaper options in montana? targhee is on the cheap side as well i believe. hopefully theres a bit more snow come january. there should be...
