so I am in a 1080 pro model gun, and according to the pain in my legs and some random dude in a hole in the wall shop out west last week, I need something (a different boot) that will cant farther out. Anyone have any suggestions or are there methods to increasing the cant of the boot? And yes, I have already adjusted the boot to it's maximum cant without any hacking/grinding or things of that matter. thanks
What about those things that you put in the boot and it spreads it more? I have the 1080s and I had to do that a few times cause they are too skinny and my feet have a lot of girth, much like other parts of my body that pleasure women.
yeah but they involve a shop, a pit of hot sand and potentially a really hot industry hot air blower...much like the previous commenter. The boot shell can be reformed and manipulated when brought to a high enough temp. The only problem is this work generally kills any warranty and can mess with the durability of the shell. Go to a boot specialist at a good shop that has an actual boot specialist (not some burnout who thinks that their five years in the rental dept. makes them an expert).
which boot are you in? what is the pain in your leg?
technically that little screw on your boot isn't canting, even though it may say it. It is upper cuff alignment. canting is something a lot different. Depending on exactly the pain you are feeling, you should be able to have a bootfitter customize the boot, like the others have said, by heating, stretching, blowing, grinding and shaving different parts of the boot. Or you could get a boot that fits better.
boots dont can't. they call it canting but it isn't true. the little hole you stick the allen wrench into is just adjusting the cuff of the boot. a good shop tech will tell you that. true canting is dealt with the bindings
Cuff alignment is easy, canting requires either planing the sole of the boot or putting shims under your bindings. Canting needs to be done by an expert. It's also only helpful if you were racing or doing a lot of precision carving. It doesn't matter in the park.
If you have pain, get to a good boot fitter and they will do all that other stuff that was mentioned above to make the boot work.
Dude u can do this at home if u want. Take the liners out of your boots and take ur socks off. Put ur feet in the shells and technically, if u feel a pain on either side of ur leg, it's cauz ur leg is too close to that side of the cuff. Take the Allen key and turn the rivet until it does a "clock" sound. Those are the number of degrees (ranging from 1-2) That way the cuff will bend inwards or outwards, making it closer or further to the leg. The trick is to get both sides to be symetrical on both sides. Hope this helps
the allen key thing on the side of boots adjusts it side to side? not front to back? damn, learn something new everyday. i thought that was how u adjusted forward lean. but i never really played with it either.
My 1080s cant are at the original, stock cant. And I changed the buckle (the arch buckle, second from the toe) to the different setting, theres like 2 spots to put the actual buckle). I was wondering what I could do to make this boots a PURE park boot, like what would be best for pure park? Anything I should change with the cant? should I put the arch buckle back to its original setting? I think the SPK has a pretty much straight up cant and I was wondering if I could replicate this with my 1080.
thanks bro but i already have them adjusted as far as they will go, i need like another half CM of travel and the boots just cant do it, the shells are going to have to be tweaked or something
You need to find a competent boot fitter. There are a number of ways to adjust cant that have nothing to do with the stock "cant" adjustment on the boot. Grinding, molding, even lifts can help.
