Replying to Please HELP 4FRNT STL durability (05-06 model? the white ones with the crossed swords on the bottom)
IF YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO READ THE WHOLE THING, JUST READ THE LAST PHRASE PLEASE!
So here's the deal: Last year I ordered a pair of Völkl Dogens from an online shop. They had a defect, and they sent me a new pair. This happened with 3 pairs of the Dogens. After the 3rd pair, I decided to pay a 150 euro more to get the 4FRNT STL, which I assumed to be a durable, nice pair of skis. Ho wever, after a few weeks, the STLs had a defect too, the edge popped out at the tail of one ski. The shop admitted it was a defect and they fixed it up, and then sent the skis back to me. However, the season was over. It wasn' t until this season I got to use them again. After 12 days of this season (that's a total of about 4 weeks on the STLs, if you include the few weeks from last season), I noticed that the bottom layer - the layer to which the edge is attached to - was separated from the others, under the binding. I assumed it was a factory flaw/defect(is that what you call it English?) and I sent an email with pictures to the shop. To my not-so-glad surprise, they sent me the following email:
"Hi, thank you for your e-mail and the pictures.
We are sorry, but this is not a production fault or a warranty issue. Due to force impact the edge has been teared off the base. That has nothing to do with production faults. 4FRNT doesn`t accept this as a reclamation."
In a latter email, they also suggested that I had "crashed" all the Völkl Dogens which obviously - as they admitted- had defects. Therefore I think that they just don' t believe me anymore. I know other people have had problems with their STLs and I seem to be needing some proof for the company, so If you' ve had any problems with durability with the 4FRNT STLs, please share them here!
