I just got sellected for Jury Duty again. I am only 24 and have been selected 2 times. i heard that some people never get selected in their lives. anyone else out there ever get selected?
i dont think jury duty would be all that bad but then again im into that kind of stuff and ive never had to do it but ya thats just wut i think i could be wrong
Its actually pretty interesting, plus your employer has to pay you and you get the day off. Im 23 and have been selected 4 times since i was 18 (only had to go twice) You usually get outta there by noon anyway. Unless you get picked for the case, just act sketchy and they'll toss you off the jury. Its not too bad. Free paid day off of work and you might actually learn somethin about our court systems
actually it is 12.50 a half day or 25 a full plus .10 for millage. when i went before i got cut before noon so yea i guess it will not be that bad if i don't get picked, i just don't want to get picked........
I have twice too. first case ended up pleading out second one I did'nt maket the cut. You can get out of it, they send you a form where you can request to be excused.
i was selected but never had to go. Also my dad got accepted for this lady who supposly stole money from an investment group. He got off the case cause she was his invester.
say if the plantif was mexican.. if you got mugged by a beaner the defense would not want you on the jury casue your biased towards mexacans and you would probaly be dissmissed
In canada its a pretty sweet deal. I would have to travel to my nearest court, so they pay your hotel, food, gas, and like what your wages are that day. I thought its a pretty sweet deal.
I know this is an old thread, but...
just finished serving on a jury and needed to share. I know no one likes reporting and it is a pain to make arrangements for work but, it is a great experience. I was blessed to not really be involved in the court system growing up, so this was one of my first real looks/experiences I have had. The hardest part was not talking to anybody about the crazy stuff that you heard in court and not looking up information about the defendant online. 10/10 would recommend.
Been selected 3 times but never showed up and. Nothing has happened because I didn't show either. It's been several years ago too and I haven't been asked since.
Still ducking that shit. They stopped sending me things for it. I never filled out the initial thing to register. Kinda glad because I don't really live anywhere, and if they tried to tell me I had to go if I wasn't around, I'd tell them to git facked.
Don't really mind the idea of it. I'm pretty level headed and ditch the jump to conclusions mat that a lot of people seem to rock, but the "Oh well just hit you up some random time and you have to go" sounds like total ass.
Just listening to people on facebook makes me think its a total shitshow. Sucks that a bunch of dumb fucks are the only thing standing between your freedom, and 10 years in a federal pound me in the ass prison. I just picture the gems of society from the walmart parking lot in full degenerate lynch mob forum saying "Fuck the evidence, lets burn him! Yeah burn him!!! yeah!!!"
1st time I was selected was for a state I didn't even live in anymore. 2nd time was last year. I made it onto the jury for a manslaughter case. It was a tense 3 days but it was interesting though.
