dude I don't know what you are talking about, long skis are amazing because they are good for landing, think about the advantages of skis over snowblades. Also, it depends on what kind of turning you want to do, large arc gs turns, which I view to be more fun, or short radius, slalom turns. Just because people don't turn once ever 6 inches doesn't mean they don't know how to ski. If you are a good skier you'll enjoy longer skis because they are more stable at high speeds. I love the dudes who show up to the park over 5'6" and have junior twins because they think short skis will help you spin faster. the difference in swing weights doesn't add up a whole lot with skis being mounted more foreward. The invaders are symmetrical and made to be center mounted. The benifits of a long ski on a landing far outweigh any spinning potential with shorter skis. Short skis are easier to turn and have amazing control at snowplow speed...
oh and as for the comment about centermounting longer skis fucking knees up.... Fact
crashing backwards is how knees get messed up, or "backwards twisting falls" aka that 5 gone wrong or when you slid around and got all fucked up... Longer tails equal more torque on the knees. You might ask why this is a problem as bindings release, but they have a really hard time releasing switch. that's why line came up with their binding and "pivogy" it released sideways on the rear too, just like if your toe were to come out. that is why they sucked, you could pop out whenever, but it saved ACLs. Tyrolia (which also makes fischer and head bindings) has gone one step beyond line and has heel release, but they stay locked until the heels lift at least a little bit. hope that helps.
and why would you say that? you are adding such a dismal amount of ski to each side only 5 cm's over a 10 cm different sized ski to each side. this being mostly tip and tail. really taking two skis of the same make but different size and swinging them the feeling is present, but just barely. try it.
and I said shorter skis would help with spinning, but the surface areas for landings is increased as a whole throughout the ski. thus if you can ski a longer ski, it is much more beneficial.
You should go ski somewhere where there's a lot of really good skiers. I'm 6' 160 and when I go to Jackson Hole I regularly see guys smaller than me riding 194 LP's, 189 Squads, etc. If you know how to handle a ski you can ride whatever length you want, and I think it's safe to say that if you can't handle 178 invaders at 130 pounds you are not a strong skier at all.
