Filming Tips

so im going to be filming this season
at alta if you must know
pretty much some small backcountry kickers, cliffs, regular bigmountain kinda stuff

and i just want to know everything there is to know
i know how to use my camera but i want to know specifics on how to use it with snow
good angles shotting kickers and such

basicly all i know is not to take it from hot to cold very fast

try white balancing off a few different things. everything will give it a different tint.

i heard that whitebalancing with give very natural color
will it work in both low light and sunny

use a tripod or have a very steady arm
no one likes watching shaky video it blows

just carry a piece of (heavy) white paper with you for white balancing.

use a tripod whenever u can. Always use a fucking tripod. It will make everything perfect. The only time you shouldnt be using a tripod is if your doing a follow cam.

they are all roped off, and they will pull your pass if you duck them

yeah, it takes 2 seconds, you dont need one if you are like in the trees or somthing shoots fairly close to them, like front face shots. but if it is long distance, you def need a tripod.

thats why you have to be sneaky

have you had you pass pulled?

there is a good 10-15ft cliff in vail ridge you duck the ropes but you cant get pass pulled because you can access if from through the gates at vail ridge

and theres diving board too

experience. film as much as you can and you will figure it out in time. try new angles, and buy a fisheye lense for up close shots and follow cams.

my advice for filming kickers is to get shots from several hundred yards away from an opposite ridge or opposite side of the gully. Then zoom wide so the person is pretty small. When I am filming that is my favorite place to be.
