Okay so im big into lacrosse and i wanna get into a DIII school that has lacrosse and is about an hour tops away from a good mountain. I have like a 3.2+ average. just wondering if someone can help me cuz i tried to look it up but i dont really know where to start. RECAP! DIII Lacrosse skiing 3.2ish. help a brotha out.
look at the nescac schools. theyre alot harder to get into, but if ur good enough at lax they could get u in. i hope ur a junior and not a senior and planning this stuff out this late, as well as relying on ns for ur college desicion
im applying to SUNY Plattsburgh and im pretty sure they have lacrosse, not sure what size it is but i do know that you will most likely get in with a b+ average, white face is like 45 minutes away, highest elevation in the east i believe, burlington is a fairy ride away and montreal is just 1 hour by car, its a sick school
D3 isnt hard at all to play at unless you go to like salibury, or any other national champ teams, and also if your good and you talk to the coach grades arnt really a factor if they like you, and you shouldnt have to worry about the grades there good enough especially being a athlete
Talk to the coach at middlebury or at leasts send him an email. A 3.2 wont get you in to middlebury but if you are very good at lacrosse then the coach can help. Just keep in mind that middlebury contends every year. Where are you from anyway?
Around Chicago Illinois. Naperville to be exact. and im pretty good at lacrosse. im gonna start going hardcore practicing soon so i can get a lot better and my grades are pertty much how they are.
im kind of in the same situation but like 3.5 average. i dont think i want to play in college but i was talkin to the colorado college coach and it seems liek a sick school to play lax at.
D3 lax, great campus, a 3.2 should be sufficient, and it's near Burlington (which is on the water; lake champlain), Stowe, Sugarbush, and Jay Peak (and a few others).
I'm pretty sure if you're playing Div 3. lax they're not gonna be too pumped on you skiing and/or you're not gonna have any time with school and your sport
WRONG! recruitment is against the ncaa policies for d3 sports, just because youre the tristate captin of so and so, legally, they cannot offer you a scholarship or bump your acceptance due to a sport. there are grey areas, like all things, where athletes get "merit" scolarships, and just "happen" to be the captain of the national championship squad, but as i recall, middlebury doesnt participate, i should know, i live in midd.
Coaches from D3 schools can get you into school. What they are not allowed to do is give scholarships. I talked to the ski coach at Middlebury and he said he could recommend three athletes a year. And there have been lacrosse players from my school who have got into middlebury with about a 3.2. Kids get recruited all the time from d3 schools but they do not get scholarships.
na man they give out scholarships but they arent considered sport scholarship they are awarded for "academics" but really they are for you playing a sport
sounds like you should be looking at a college with club lax if your trying to base the school your trying to play for on skiiing .....not to mention winter is a super busy time for lax players getting ready for the upcoming spring
ya, I'd look for a good club team if I were you; d3 isn't much less of a time commitment than d1 is, when it comes to actual time you'd be able to ski. I have friends who play d3 and they're lives are 'Class, eat, hw, lax, sleep'.
skidmore college in saratoga springs, ny has a real good D3 lacrosse program and is 1.5 hrs to killington with tons of people making trips every weekend. did you go to public or private school? if you got b's all the way through private school you should get in no problem, if you went to public school the fact that youre an athlete should get you in, but i cant guarantee it.
About as difficult as it is to spell Johnson State College.
It's a good school, with Castleton (one of the other state schools) being better academically, but everybody who goes there (that I know) loves it and gets a fine education.
in my opinion, anything under DII athletics is a complete waste of time. everyone i know that did the college sports thing completely 100% regrets it because they have no free time whatsoever and they know they won't go anywhere with it. think about it....it's DIII. who the fuck from DIII goes on to do anything in proffesional sports?
i go to st. mikes, i like it quite a bit. they even throw in a 25$ season pass to smuggs. the ski and snowboard club here is sick as well with the rail jams they do on campus. they also have d3 lax, im pretty sure that was mentioned already though.
