bass is way easier. I mean, if you know your scales and stuff on guitar, bass will be easy.

Anyone who says bass is way easier then guitar, I sincerely doubt you play.
While bass may initially seem easier then guitar, because of the 2 less strings, in reality its easily as difficult if not more difficult. I will agree that bass is easier to learn quickly then guitar, but to play bass well is tough. Bass requires not only the tonal aspect of music, but is in a band for rhythm as well.
If you play in a band, I suggest playing with your drummer a lot... When the rhythm you play with your fingers goes in cue with the bass drum it makes the music sound very tight.
good luck!

I actually do play guitar and bass, and drums. I'm not an expert, I was just saying that someone who is already proficient at guitar, bass will be pretty easy. There are lots of things unique to bass that a guitar player would not be attuned to though.

i was in a band.
every musician should be playing with their drummer.
its hard for someone to do, but thats all there is to it, every person playing with the drummer.
bass is EASY as long as you have rhythm and guitar skills.
the end.

Well, I'll have to just disagree with you. I think playing bass well is easily as difficult as guitar. It also depends on what kind of music you're playing... Busting out rhythm notes along with power chords is far easier then playing music like moe, or victor wooten.

wtf are you doing, bringing wooten into this.
that man is a fucking bass genius (though he shouldnt fucking SING)
i will say this: bass is EASIER than guitar.
AND MORE FUN.
i am not saying that bassists cant be as good as guitarists, because even though it is an easy instrument to play (assuming you have rhythm) there is still room to make it complicated by adding ridiculous technique and speed.

i agree with you. you have to be the rythym of the band , they follow you. and if you want to play and tohave challenge for it to be as hard as guitar, just try to play some primus songs, red hot chili peppers songs or old metallica songs with bass solos from cliff burton(anesthesia, orion, call of the ktulu...)

dude.
the drummer is the rhythm of the band.
i dont get why people aways say that the bassist is the rhythm of the band.
if you are talking about jazz or some type of music other than rock/pop there is no reason why the drummer isnt the rythm end.
bassists can influence rhythm and the feeling of songs, but the core of the beat should come from the drummer.

the drummer more or less holds the music together
