Want to build a box

Here are some of the basic laws on box building, these are for the most part proven at one point or another:

- Keep it low, under 3 feet, or your going to need a shit-ton of snow to get the jump up there, more than you think.
-try to go over 8 feet if you want any grindage at all, anything shorter is a waste of time and materials in my opinion.
-Unless you can get it for free, pressure treated lumber isnt necessary, just poly/paint etc the regular stuff.
-One of the best known topsheet materials is HDPE, high density polythylene, available at US Plastics (usplastics.com). Dont go thinner than 1/4"
-Coping can be PVC, metal pipes, angle iron, etc, or you can get away without if if your topsheet is thick.
-To attack the topsheet, reinforce it with wood and use screws to attach it to the wood, use a countersink bit so the screws dont stick out.

^this is all good advice. The cost is very dependent on the size of the box. a 20' 1.5' box would be about 100.

It can be cut with a wood saw

How do you attach angle iron to the box?

How thick would the topsheet have to be so you can get away with no coping?

I built a 8' long box that starts at 8 inches and goes up to 29 inches. then i have a 2 foot high box 8 ' long . Both are like 1-2 feet long. With HDPE it was all a total of like 180-240$

But i went balls the the wall

I'd go thicker than 1/4" to get away without coping, I've never tried it but I'm guessing 3/8" would work ok and 1/2" for sure.

As for the angle iron, you would drill holes through the metal where you want them and countersink those holes eneough so he head of the screw wont stick out at all.

1/4 has worked okay for me without coping but i ussually come on pretty square.

Would it be better to round off the edges of the topsheet with sand paper if you're not doing coping?

if i was making 2 8 ft by 1 ft boxes, how much would the hdpe cost?

so if i didn't put coping on my box would it affect how it worked in any way?
