Suggestions on 07 PE Setup

Just for background, i'm coming out of (yes i'm going to say it on this site) skiboards. I'm debating making the switch to twin tips for this season since I just got a Threedom Pass to Loon, Waterville, and Cranmore and feel I will have more potential on twin tips.
I'm 5'11 155 lbs and intermediate skill level. Considering my background I was thinking that the 164 public enemy would be a good size, but the people at my local shop said 159, altho small, would also be an okay fit for me if I really wanted to go smaller so it would be an easier transition (altho they suggested 164 would be optimal for my experience/potential). I'm planning to do 40% trails/60% park with much more rails/boxes than jumps. I would pair my twin tips with Scratch 120 bindings.
Let me know what you think on sizing for what I'm interested in along with what DIN you would suggest (they would put me at 6.5 or 7 but I think that's too low). Thanks guys.

well, for your hight and weight, the 164 is prolly not too good for you bro, althought im 511 155 and i have 169s and this will be my only year using them. everyone is going to tell you 179 but the lowest you should go is prolly around 169 man

id probably go even bigger than that, like maybe the 169 or 174 and yeah id say that skis are better than snowblades especially on the mountain. no offence, but i cant see why anybody would want to snowblade over ski.

Obviously the people at the shop originally tried to sell me on the 169 or even 174 but I told them I'd rather go smaller because of my background and the fact that for rails, I'd rather have a lighter setup to get up on them etc.

Trust me...get something that at least goes up to or above your eye sight level, if you get 159's at your height, you're going to want to switch very soon. Twintips actually feel shorter when you ski them because of the lifted tail, so going a bit long is ok I'm the same height as you and I ski 175's (my old carving skis used to be around 170) and it feels great.

I'm 6' and am on the 179cm PEs. I moved up from a pair of 170's and the extra length isn't a problem. Even with your short background, you'll get used to the length really quickly and you won't have thrown away $600 for something you'll "out grow of" next season once you're used to skis. Thats my 2 cents...

i'm 5 10 and I rock 179's if you centermount them, they feel way short anyways... you'll be way happier with bigger skis. the people at your shop know nothing about sizing twins. becasue they are mounted closer to center they need to be longer. get 179's nad mount them all the way foreward on the little chart on the side, it says "core center" or a cm foreward or two from that, you'll be much happier in the long run

Go longer. It will give the true feeling of having a great wealth of effective edge to play with. The possiblity of massive tip and tail presses are also that much cooler with long skis.

i was in your exact same position 3 seasons or so ago.
go with the 164 and get them mounted CORE CENTER.
make sure you get them mounted core center, as your bg in skiboarding will have you skiing ina way that works better on a more center mounted ski.
any other questions, pm me. i pretty much had to relearn alot of stuff after switching.

i went from snowblades to PEs last year, im 5'9", 160lbs, and got the 169s. i was also thinking about getting the 159s (there werent 164s at the shop i got em. anyways, the guys there talked me into 169s, and im really happy they did. took about 3 runs and i loved em way more than snowblades. id say go for 169s, maybe 174s, but no shorter

you mean TRUE center. TRUE center is more central than CORE center.

And by the way, everyone who said longer is right. I'm a tiny bit shorter than you and also intermediate skill level and I found 169's to actually be too short. Go to the shop and hold up the skis next to you. Really anything between your chin and the top of your head is acceptable, and within that range it is preference. Short will of course give you better park performance, but long will give you good all-mountain and powder performace. Also, many people say long looks better if that matters to you. Keep in mind longer will be faster, counter-intuitive but true. You will adapt to whatever size you get, so don't worry about transitioning, they will feel natural in about a day. I strongly urge you to not get any that are shorter than your eye level, but of course, it's up to you. Also, keep in mind that the back tip means part fo the ski is off the ground so they behave as if they were a little shorter than a regular ski of the same length.

no.
i mean what i said.
true center might fuck up the way the PE rides. although i did just pull that assumption out of my ass.
