Winter Job in Grass Valley; Drive to Tahoe

Hey, I'm probably going to end up working in Grass Valley (restoring wooden boats), and assuming it happens, I'm gonna be driving to Tahoe as much as possible. What are everyone's feelings about nearby areas and such? I've been thinking Alpine Meadows. I was there and other places last winter, and was a pretty big fan.

Hard to beat alpine, maybe a boreal night pass to. Only 99 bucks.

So how's grass valley as a place to live? I'm a freshman in college, will I be able to find anything to do if I don't have time to drive to tahoe at the end of the day? (I'll be there on weekends for sure.)

GV is pretty weak, mostly an older population. If you get to know people though you can find shit to do. I grew up there and had to move, too far from the mountain, but too far from cool shit to do. But it also has benefits in the summer, good fishing, camping, hiking wakeboarding area.

umm i really wouldnt plan on much to do. theres alot of hippies and older people. but if you drive to like roseville, rockland or sacramento you can find things to do. you should just get a night pass to boreal so you can ski where ever during the day then at night go to boreal...thats where the party is!
