it took me about 1 1/2 hrs to get to Hojo's then it usually takes about 25-30 min to get to the ravine from hojo's depending on how fast the line is moving
ok so when is the best time to go, I want some good snow, and just wondering,if you have done the hike, what do you usually bring with you...what makes it eaiser to hike..snow shoes or the skits or w/e u put on the bottomm of you skis...
oh man, tucks is the shit. I went on the most epic trip there 2 years ago. we went in april and it was perfect because there was plenty of snow covering everything but it was warm out, blue skies and the trail to the bottom was open 95% of the way down. this is key, as hiking down after hiking up and skiing all day would suck balls. We stayed in the shelters at the base tucks the night before, and it was so worth it because once we woke up it was just another 20 minute hike and we were there. I think we got in 4 solid runs, left gully was definitely the coolest. Tucks is steeper than anything you have ever skied or seen, and the first turn is the hardest.
you should go in late march to early april if you plan on skiing down to your car...i hiked up in shoes with my ski equipment on my back... i would use skins because you don't really need snowshoes because the trail is usuallt packed pretty well
listen to this guy, especially about staying in the shelters. also, just get a pair of waterproof hiking boots and hike up to hojos in those, then switch to your ski boots. there will probably be a bootpack, skins or AT gear isn't necessary.
