So i have recently stumbled upon 3 movies that were filmed in Crested Butte in the 70's and kick old school ass.
First is "Snowball Express" a Disney movie about a family from the city that inherits a ski lodge in Colorado. Made in 1978, It has classic old school switch skiing (probably the first pair of twin tips ever made)and snowmobiling. It is crazy to see what Elk Avenue looked like back then. I give it an 8/10.
Next is "Snowbeast" a made for TV horror movie about a man eating abominable snowman. Filmed in 1977, it is Really really cheesy with horrible acting, but super funny regardless. Bad plot and cheesy skiing forces my rating of 5.5/10.
Finally is "Mountain Family Robinson" which is the 3rd movie of the Swiss Family Robinson series. I have yet to see this one but it is on order. This movie was filmed in Irwin which is about 10 minutes west of CB. I will update my rating when i see it. I believe it was also filmed in 1977.
Anyone who lives in CB or has been here should definitely check these out. CB fashion was so sick back then!
