Good Midi keyboard?

What is a good midi keyboard? I want one with one of those wheels on the side so I can do that thing with the note like in the Scrubs intro.

ummm, really depends on how much you want to spend, and whether you want full size, and whether you'd choose quality(and less tracks and options) or selection and features.

I own the Korg Kontrol49; quite an amazing keyboard if you want basic studio keys. Includes mod/pitch wheels, 8 faders, and a drum pad.

ooh shit I want that. how much was it? my price range is around $100. I can afford a more pricey one but I dont feel like taking the time to get really into music recording, so I just want something that will be really responsive and totally unlike my stupid typing keyboard.

damn that korg one is way too pricey. That oxy8 one looks sick but one of the reasons I need a synth is because the keyboard doesnt have enough notes on it.

keyboards are way too pricey, but look at musiciansfriend.com so you can get an idea of what you want. if you want something full size, the m-audio isn't a bad deal, though i don't know about it's quality as i have no experience with it. but that should give you a good idea of what's out there.

microkorg?

and its called a pitch/bend wheel.. fyi. i'd go with the microkorg or the alesis micron.. both are 400ish, and are the cheapest quality synths you can buy. i personally prefer the korg but i know a kid with the alesis and it has a few more features but its difficult to switch between different sounds quickly, due to the lack of buttons. or you can buy an alesis andromeda.. its what im using at the moment, and its amazing. i can't actually afford it, but yeah

alright i just got a M-audio keyrig 49 and its pretty perfect. assuming that you dont know much about hot to use them i think u should start with a 49 key as well. mine came with a mod/pitch wheel, and easy octave buttons right above them. so start with a 49. and another thing do u have a program on your computer that u can use the midi with?

if you just want like 49 keys to play with go with the oxygen. if you plan on writing good pieces and practicing piano and shit go with like an axiom 49. the oxygen keys arent weighted while the axiom keys are semi weighted. right now im buying an akai mpk 49. theyre so sick...

its pretty much all u need, and theres even legit drum pads.

and dont get the microkorg, the keys are way too small.

Microkorgs are sick, they have tons of settings and shit but they can get a little complicated. They arent really cheap either, one of the best synths ive played though.

Mini piano.  You can find it in the app store.  It only works on iPod touch or iPhone though.

haha damn this is old. I have the alesis micron now and it's sick. I didn't like the microkorg at all due to the shitty little keys. Plus the micron has a step sequencer. hollahollaholla

yeah axiom is a sweet MIDI controller at a decent price, semi-weighted, has 8 trigger pads as well (trigger finger style), a few knobs, and the pitch bend/modulation wheels on the side.  i have the 25, but you'll probably need something longer, comes bundled with Ableton Live LE,

Check out the M-audio Oxygen 49. Probably your best bet. $140ish... really cant go wrong.
