OK, first off i have an xbox 360, very good game system, graphics are very good and everything

Now what i was wondering is, does anybody on here have an Ps3, i have heard and read that the xbox360 is just as good and maybe better, i know the ps3 puts your games and movies in HD(which is why it costs so much)but i think you can buy a cord for the xbox360 to do the same thing.

So which is better...?

yeah the 360 sucked when it came out too, my friend went through two in like a month till he got one that worked, and there are like 10 games out for ps3, and none are that great so obviously the 360 is gonna be more fun than the ps3 at first, but in like a year ps3 is gonna kill xbox so much. xbox games suck anyway.

thats the part that really makes it BS bc GTA doesnt use real city names like in SA for example San Fiero (san francisco) Las Venturas (las vegas) and so on and so forth you get what i mean and plus they already did a GTA based on New York which would be GTA 3 based in Liberty City (new york city)

GTA: Bali, India...i fuckin rode an elephant down the dirt road with my machette and blow gun pwning the market. i got beat down by the army when they rode in on camels. FYI when you get the game, camels are the fastest, so steal one, fuckin elephants are slow as hell. oh but get a rhino or hippopotomus, they tear shit up.

PS3 is more, but it has way more features and a blu-ray dvd player. Blu-ray dvd players are like $700.00 alone, which is more then a PS3. So if you buy a PS3 you're basically getting a deal on a blu-ray Dvd player which can play games.

But in like, the types of games and graphics. You retards can't debate on that yet. It's too early in both systems lives to be able to talk about each systems graphics and games. Wait untill next summer, then you can talk a tiny bit.

In 2 years everyone should know where each system is at exactly. Right now, you can't make and assumptions or any conclusions. Period.

You can't comment on sales yet because it hasn't even been out for a month. You can take a look at sales in around 2 years... dumb ass. Then you can make assumptions.

They have to actually produce them before people start buying. They had production problems, so chill the fuck out and wait a couple years. Then see where the sales are at and if xbox or playstation is better.

Again, PS3 just came out. Like wow. They have like 10 games.

If you look at both systems statistics, and the power of both, then compare, you will find PS3 is much more powerful. It takes time to actually harness both systems power.

Compare both systems graphics in 2 years time. Then you can make an argument.

Actually the PS3 does make Sony lose money, look anywhere, it has been mentioned on the news constantly, i've seen Sony publicists say it (E3), just look for your self it's true.

The 360 made Microsoft lose money with every console sold, but they've already made it back in accesories, games, and licensing.

The only console that makes money with every sale is the Wii, and it is the only console focusing on the right thing this generation, gameplay.

Well i've heard it costs about a grand to make the PS3 (which would make sense considering the blu-ray) and since they sell for 650 (relatively) they lose bout 350 with each system sold

anything you see in a store is double the cost of what the manufacturer sells it for.

you think your 600 dollar pair of skiis cost 600 to make? no.

the store you buy them at pays about 300 for them. and the company that made them, it cost them about 150 to make them.

Sony itself said that they lose money with each PS3 sold and wont begin to make money until the middle of next year. Which is why the PS3 is such a big gamble for them.

whatever, buy a machine with a video format that your current TV can't support.  And if you wanted to, you couldn't afford it.It's like buying a Ferrari to race on muddy roads.
First gen products for new formats are always  a waste of money.  Got a minidisc player??  did you pay more than $100 for a DVD player?? how about a VCR? Current PS3 owners will be stuck with overpriced technology in a year or so... Sony knows this, that's why they're willing to take a hit for each console sold.
Sony also has a history of going for formats that will enable it be the only player.. or the only major player so it can collect royalities...
and honestly, they say 50gb per bluray disc, but that's it's maximum.  read around, the process to do that is not cost effective for manufacturing at all.  9 hours of HD content??!!?  I can barely sit through 2 hours of movies these days.

Next releases of Xbox360 will have the HD-DVD drive in it at a fraction of the cost to the game producer (meaning more/better games) and ultimately the consumer.

It's a few years early yet for the PS3 i think, and I don't think it can drive the market for the adoption of blu-ray because it really depends on HD for its true value.. I'm still not about to go drop a 3g's for a TV..
If it's the bragging factor... well, yeah, that's probably it...  in a couple years, your PS3 the same way that I look at this. (ps, that's beta!)

first off basically the best game ever made< not in my opioion but in everybodys opinion halo< everybody likes it but playstation doesnt have it do they? and the second ranked game-gears of war which is also for the xbox and dead rising everybody likes that game too which is for xbox

i'm just waiting this whole thing out. i really want the ps3, but it has to prove its worth to me. i'm waiting till gta4 comes out next year, and whatever system (360 or ps3) has the best games and operation, i'll but that system to play gta...

until then i'll just keep replaying my other gta games...

I've never been a fan of sony, and to tell you the truth i'd rather take the 360 over the ps3 if they were the same price.  Sony blew the ps3 way out of proportion by advertising that it had the best graphics out of any system, as well as a bluray dvd player.  The 360 is hardly behind the ps3 in terms of graphics power, and neither company has any games that use the systems to it's full advantage, and it'll be a while till they do.  As it stands now, xbox360 games have the best grapics out of any system.

But... lest we forget the real purpose of video games, gameplay.  Without a doubt xbox and nintendo have the funnest games around, with titles such as halo, super smash bros, and zelda.  Sony has always focused on having better graphics, and they forget to make fun games that can be played for longer than 1 month.  That's why I have a Xbox360 and a Wii.  The xbox satisfies my hunger for good shooters and more serious games with some decent graphics, while the Wii has the fun, more laid back games.  Playing Zelda on the Wii is by far the most fun playing a video game i've had in a while.  I can't wait till the Wii has more titles because there's some really good possibilitys with shooting games and swords (Red Steel isn't that good I heard).

Beta is still being used by major production companies......blu ray is being used on the PS3 not for the video.....but for its gaming capabilities. This disk can hold soo much information. Imagine the games it could play.

We are really not going to know how these systems are going to rank up right now. But look at the potential that the PS3 has. Just every measure of hardwear on this thing is loaded to the gills. Time will tell. If anything its not the x-box that will take the Ps3 down, it will be the Wii.

The Blu-ray is overrated and a waste of money, the PS3's source engine defines the objects worse and tries to make them more real than theyt really are, which makes the graphics accualy look worse. The 60 gb costs $840 to produce, and only sell for $600.

Yeah, i agree.  But.. it's loaded to the gills by todays standards when we're not quite there for tomorrows.... or when tomorrows are not economically feasible for the masses.  PS2 was futuristic... sorta (DVD was very much public and affordable, graphics weren't obscene).  PSone was futuristic... sorta - CD-ROM drives were commonplace on the PC market, gameplay on SNES and N64 was.. childish.
All i'm saying is that they're basing a lot of their sell on Blu-ray.  I think that's a bad idea. DVD/HD-DVD is already here.  HD tv's are still incredibly expensive for most people.  The deciding factor in most games is the gameplay and not the technology at this point.  Networking technology is where it's at - not single gameplay.  For me, hackability of a console is the deciding factor - as with many other people.  I think MS took the lessons of XBox and incorporated them into the xbox360.  I don't think they should fight it that much for console sales.
In terms of gameplay, GTA is the only game I can name for the PS that would be their IT game.  Xbox (currently) has many of the same games. that PS2.. Halo is outstanding because of multilayer capabilities and Gears of war looks like a suitable successor/compliment.  I know it will take PS time to get things to market, but I think they're fighting a losing battle unless they subsidize the game makers so they can mass produce it for blu-ray while in the meantime, they can so easily/cheaply put it on DVD/HD-DVD today.

I think if it was in 2 years time when more and more people had HD technology in home.. yeah they would probably win -- or at least have a better playing field.  They know that its 2k for a suitable TV.. how on earth can they charge 7-800 for a console??  It's still too fucking expensive for the vast majority of people.. MS is just picking their fights, and by winning this short term battle, they will be highly successful in the war.

yes i understand that.....bu this is the point im making. they didn't make the Ps3 blu-ray compatible for the movies. They made it so that it can support that kind of gaming hardwear. Just look at the amount of information you can put on that disk. You give those specs to game developers (sp) and they can run wild with game designs. What the PS3 is....its a platform for which games of a magnitude of which we have never seen can be made. Never mind GTA in a single city. Imagine a GTA WORLD....with no load times. That is the main difference. You hand this to game developers....and say " Well here it is, go nuts...." Down the line,when the full potential of the PS3 is reached, some MASSIVE, incredible games are going to be coming out.

yeah, but i think when that time hits, PS3 will be almost behind the times and price compared to what someone else can produce.  and face it, a game with 30GB of data ... i have yet to play.  A game with 50GB of data - that's almost as big as many peoples hard-drives still!  I know it's not as if it's some joblo company with a small budget making a console.  Sony is willing to lose $200 per console! That's an insane business decision.  And it's because I think they recognized that they fucked up.. They went too far into the future, almost, for a consumer device - consumers that are becoming more and more tight with their money too mind you.
I would love it for the best technology to win.  I just don't think they can get it though.  The best in this case has to win price wise.  The games have to have an excellent multiplayer infrastructure behind it too... playing alone - or watching someone play a game alone - is played.

i think halo is way overrated, ive played halo alot and i really dont have that much fun, its a good game but no better than most others. ive just always liked playstation games alot more, playstation seems have more real life games like socom, gran turismo, metal gear, and stuff like that and xbox is more like fantasy games like halo, gears of war, and futuristic stuff like that. i also hate xbox controlers. whatever though thats just my opinion.

I think Sony was basically planning for the future. Whether that will work out for them, only time will tell.

Props for the good points with the storage capabilities on the blu ray discs to those who made them.

Think about how that will come into play in the future in things besides games. Entire TV series that would normally be a box set being sold in a single disc, backing up your entire pc on a single disc, etc. Hell, maybe you'll even be able to pick up a blu-ray disc with older collections of games for the Playstation. Regardless, of whether PS3 wins the Next-Gen Wars, I bet you'll eventually see Blu-ray discs as the popular disc media.


PS. I don't own either system at the moment, but in a while I'll be making the decision on which to buy. Hopefully at that point the capabilities and pros/cons of each system will be very clear.

wrong, the Xbox 360 graphics are not as good, PS3 has twice the processing speed as the xbox360, meaning its graphics are much smoother and clearer, plus the blu-ray put it all in HD, aslo the added memory of a blu ray allows for longer games, better plots, etc. Just give it more then 2 weeks before you start making any assumptions

xbox360 is better hands down the have like the same graphics if not better and xbox has way better games like Gow and dead rising and fuckin HALO 3 and GTA 4 so does ps3 and sony always comes out with the same games they dont have there own like xbox does the "only on xbox 360" also blue ray might be cool and all buts its almost pointless who cares that the picture is a bit better u dont even notice that much unless ur rreally picky and another thing 360 kills ps3 on is fuckin xbox fuckin live some many more people play xbox live that ps3 online and the controllers are way better than ps3 i even think the wii is better cause its so unique and shit the ps3 is the same old shit GAY so therefore the 360 rules ass

Well I don't think it costs Sony 1000 dollars to buy a blueray dvd reader or whatever. to let you know, wholesale and bulk buying is way way cheaper than individual sales. Just because a retail store sells something for 1000 dollars doesnt mean that it costs 1000 dollars to buy straight from the supplier, otherwise they wouldn't make any money, and if that was the case than they probably would not be selling it for that price.

no, sony fucked up, you see they tryed to make the graphics and system more define, which accualy really made the graphics looks worse and fake. i have two friends that have played the ps3 and xbox 360, both said the xbox graphics are better, while the ps3 graphics are kinda gay JUST because they over did it, and tryed too hard to make them better

killzone - next christmas (tentative) using the power of ps3 to the max, developer quoted saying "we wont release another in-game screen shot until it blows you away just as, or probably even more than, then trailer" (i paraphrased, but check the trailer)

it WILL be the deciding factor why ps3 OWNS xbox in every way, that, and metal gear solid 4

Wii has the gameplay, Xbox has the game titles, PS3 has the graphics. I personally think Xbox360 is the best because the graphics are still great, the game titles coming out are great, and everything runs smoothly with all the games im playing. Yeah, so I dont swing my controller around like a monkey with a stick, and I can't see each individual crisp blade of grass, but I still have a good time with my Xbox360.

i dont really like the ps3 played it not satisfied 360 i can play forever but what really gets me is the wii and its amazing gameplay and the wii is especially good for some of you nerdy gamers so now you can get exercise besides jerkin it
