Alta and Snowbird in January

Im going to Alta for 4 days and Snowbird for one in Mid January. Last year they had approx. 265 inches around that time. I was thinking I was going to be skiing deep snow and have awesome conditions, but now that I realize that some east coast resorts get that much snow, im a lil worried. Was i just having dillusions of grandure when i was thinking that I would be skiing sick pow and everything would be open and in pristine condition? I would change my plans and move them into mid fubruary or later but I already booked my flights and all. Locals or people who ski there all the time...should I be worried?

dude, are you serious? Alta and Snowbird have just about everything open now, and after this huge storm we are getting, we should be hitting far fewer rocks. You never can predict when the storms are going to hit, but you have a pretty good chance of getting powpow in Jan...

isnt it 265inches from like october-january? thats a shitload of early snow. thats like seasonal total for the snowiest eastern places. if you get a system that moves in, prepair for some of the best pow skiing of your life.

yeah that number is only from oct-jan. but still when you think about it at the end of the east coast seasons the conditions can still be lacking snow. But yes i was just expecting the number to be much higher.
All times are Eastern (-5)
