no..the snow it was sitting on settled during the day and it had a weird lien to it on the last curve. Hopefully everyone liked better today. It's gona move real soon anyways so I'll make sure we do a better job of re-setting it.
Maybe they shouldn't ride down them then. I don't mean to be cold hearted about it but the stairs are a calculated risk(that done right isn't so risky) that we are willing to take to appeal to a certain group of riders and skiers. I saw many more people actually riding them today and slaying it as well. We are striving to be a true all mountain park at Boreal. Putting as many features out as early as we have is proof of that. Yesterday and today aside...over 95% of the riders and skiers we've had since opening day have been park riders. I suppose we couild have pulled more features this weekend then we did(so people wont fall down on them) but then someone would spray about everything being pulled. Everything is a balancing act..especially with the slow start to the season all of us are dealing with.
Sorry if it sounds like you've touched a nerve. I take all of this seroiusly otherwise I wouldn't waste the time that I do on these message boards to hear your feedback and post updates. We've been busting tail to provide alot of good stuff for you guys with pretty much zero snow to work with.
sorry for the rant..I'm goinmg to sleep..gotta be up at 4am to put up more features for people to fall down on.
pretty sure he was just joking, pretending to be a gaper from auburn or something. everyone appreciates what you guys have been doing and all the feedback
ughhh! that stairset was ill, it kept most of the gapers off the lip, except for the daring asians and gun-toting hicks who felt that the stairs were a sick feature in itself. The whole flow of the park was sick, you could keep it ill on all 6 features, cept when the brohan crew was shaping the lips. definately the best that could have been done on a bunny hill.
people were seriously riding down the stairs like it was a challenge and then talking about it in the lift line and giving each other props. it was so funny
Well just my thoughts on things I thing its awesome whats going on at B real. I just got back from mammoth and I think park wise B real has them beat easy. there was a bit more snow so you could ski, but I hope everyone appreciates how much youve setup and got going this early. Thanks for putting up stuff when no other mountain has put out the effort.
My personal favorite was the 50'some year old man that skied the stairs like 5 runs in row..I think it was the highlight of his day. To a too cool shralper it might seem lame but to each his own. I'd rather see this old man having fun skiing the stairs then standing on a knuckle or in an inrun.
If he had fun..then mission accomplished.
sorry man, i didn't mean to push you the wrong way. i was totally kidding. i guess i should stop making stupid posts. but i love what you guys have going on at B Real. it's all good stuff and the park crew is definately appreciated.
People are jonesin' for jumps so bad. They were hitting the lip of the stairset and airing past the bottom of the stairs, to flat. I even saw one boarder backflip off the side of the lip, it was sweet.
we're working on it..making all the snow we possibly can.
should have some jumpable snow obstacles very soon...oh and we started making snow on the super stunt ditch today.
Right now the priority is to get open to the top and as soon as that happens most if not all of the snowmaking will go towards building the real night park and getting 49ner open.
and I'm sorry if I over reacted the other day..been running low on sleep and high on stress since getting the mountain open. Guess I didn't see the sarcasim in some of the those posts.
lookin good up thur!!!! the worlds smallest jump would make me so happy right now. all them boxes are fun though and well maintained, but it would be nice to get those rails back in :) thanks for given us a lot of fun on not much snow for the past 2 weeks.
things are gonna switch up soon. the new park run will have rails and as soon as we are done making snow on the exsisting park run we replace some boxes with rails and add a jump or two.
mudflap, i must give you props for this years park. last year at night i never saw anyone tuning in-runs or landings, but this year, every time i have been there, there's been someone tuning shit up. thanks bro. and i'm down with some additional rails soon too. but i'll be patient, i know they're coming.
oh, and it's an ALL mountain park, so if you don't like it, don't come. sugar bowl is a close mtn. with no "obstacles," so if your a gaper, go there.
thanks for the props, the crew gets stoked when they know people notice they're working hard.
regarding rails:
they're coming..we hear you guys..don't worry
we're looking at having triple the terrain open for this weekend and that means we can go ahead as planned and move the lower night park to it's real location below the superpipe, get features places up top for top-to-bottom park and convert the exsisting line up into the beginner "KidzX" park and yes add rails and cough, cough and jump or two. just to forwarn..the jumps aint gonna be big.
we've been making a ton of snow at the top and the guns are blazing as well above the super stunt ditch. not sure how long these great temps are gonna stick around but we are maxing out our snowmaking system while we've got them.
i tried gapping from the left side of the take off over the rail. i only really tried once and didn't have enough speed to launch as far down as i want. it'd be cool to do some 180/3s over it or something.
hey mudflap, more props. i was at boreal last night and i'm diggin the assortment of jibs. the ice is annoying but that's no one's fault. thanks for adding more rails. i like the gnarly urban at the top. now its just time to get some snow to pile up and launch off it. come on snow gods, let us jump!
man, shut up! growing up in the midwest doesn't make you like ice, it just makes you appreciate snow that much more. when you getting your ass to tahoe anyway?
what up mike, glad your back in tahoe. we need to ride again. i can only go to boreal tues and thurs night this week, but i'm going. you down?
and mudflap, i got a few questions:
are you planning on...
adding lights to the jump-line run?
adding rails to the top section?
leaving the showtime jump set-up from the comp last night? it looks sick, can't wait to hit it.
answers:
1) a few lights are burned out, we are going to get them fixed. trying also to find someone with climb gear that will work in winter conditions to climb the poles and re-focus some of the lights. we are reveiwing capitol projects for this summer and all new lights from the superditch down to the bottom are on the table right now.
2)yes, jibs will be added to the jump line. The guys were going get the line started last night by the show booter. I'm off today so I don't know what progress they made. Hopefully what/when the next storm comes we will be able to finish the second upper jump next to the pipe. Also, when we finish the pipe this week, all of the extra snow that will come out the bottom from stepping the walls will go down into the lower line. The plan is to use that snow and widden those three jumps all the way to the tree line on riders right. that will make room for jumpline on the right and jib line on the left. we could do it now but it would mean turning those tables into step downs(to get the snow to widen), and I know how much evryone wants table style jumps these days.
3)yes, the show booter will stay up and hopefully be followed by a second one when we get more snow.
THe nightpark/superpipe has been our priority. I'm taking a few days off and when I get back on wed I start cutting the pipe. Unless the zaugg/cat blows up or it dumps 3ft on thurs/friday there is nothing stopping the pipe from being finished for this weekend. Getting pipe finished will set in motion the completion of the lower park line with the left over snow. After all of that is finished we will start on 49ner. We've scouted an entirely new line in that area because we don't have enough snow for what we orignally planned. We've run out of snow to build with up on the Dutchman so that won't change until we get a good dump or two. That run has stumps and rocks 3-5ft high so it took pretty much all of the snow we have just to get it all level and covered well and build the BX corse for the comp this past saturday. There is however enough for hopefully a house rail before the 40ft down and a flatdown next to it. But like I said the nightpark/pipe is priority..and Jay, my other main builder is off until wed as well, so nothing will happen until wed night anyways.
yup and it's probably to slowest big jump you will ever hit! Watch where people are dropping from and HOW SLOW..it almost doesn't look right. But it's rad..everyone was loving it yesterday.
