Another box top sheet question!

Yes I did use the search bar.
And, yes I asked to be in the build a jib cult, NO invite.

I built the box and capped it with a 3/4 inch plywood. It is solid.

Now looking to put a top on it.
Found some Lexan really cheap, but here are the questions.

They only come in 48" long sheets, can you connect the sheets? Obviously one continous sheet would be best, but I think it will cost alot more!

How thick should the sheet be (1/4"?), what are others using?

Any help would be Great!

I looked at that site and can get the lexan alot cheaper! Is the HDPE better than lexan?

Still, can I connect seperate sheets (2 48" to make 8') or will the skis get caught at the space between sheets?

How thick should the sheet be 1/2", 1/4", etc?

i would rather have continuous hdpe (which is what i have on my setup now) than pieced together lexan. as youll see once you have it on the box, theres going to be some warping of the topsheet over time, and if you have multiple pieces then thats definitely going to be a problem.

just overlap the lexan, so no risk of catching an edge.

im building one right now, and the top "sheet" is composite wood decking...seems like it will slide fine, im hoping

1/4" or 3/8" should do the trick. the thicker it is, the less it will warp, but from a basic durability standpoint, either is fine

yeah composite wood deckin is pretty think.. the sheet i have is like half inch thick..and like 4 or 5 inches wide or something, its cool

my job... i make signs and shit.. i have acces to all sorts of lexan from .125 to 2 inch thick.. i would try to avoid using a mattes finnish becuase it will start to gunk up.. in the weather

but 1.4 inch would duffice.... half inch is realy fuckin think ,,, it ways a shitton and is hard to get through unless you have some plex bits. but yeah... its only cheap if you buy in bulk.. but its cheaper to get clear plex then say a white or a matte colour.
