everytime when i go get my bindings mounted i feel like im talking to retards. i always think they r gonna fuck everything up. any one else think the same stuff?
Fuck you guys gotta find some new shops. The guys who mount my skis are pretty sweet, went in and helped doing ARGs too, just to make sure everything was lined up right.
if they have a jig, its pretty hard to fuck anything up.
if youre worried, go and watch them while they mount your shit, be proactive.
then youre the only one to blame if they eff itup.
Dropped off my foils the other day, and chatted to the tech doing the mounting about where to mount the bindings.
First of all, he thought that the recommended mount was at center. Secondly, he suggested that if I wanted to do more backcountry riding I move the mount point further forward, and for freestyle move them back a bit. After that, I didn't really ask his advice anymore:-/
I indicated I wanted them 1 cm before recommended, and am picking them up tomorrow. I am hoping for the best....
i always feel that way, specially at ski market. this eyar i got my p12s put on at a local shop called high adventure, this guy knew what he was talking bout. i said 1 back from dead center, and i got em back that way. my bros friend actually did the mounting, hes only 16 but it was a job done nicely. you just gotta get a shop with good workers that acutally know what they're talking about
the shop i go to the guys are pretty smart, they all ski too. so they know what they are talking about. but if i go to a coorporate store, like scheels, or big bear, then i feel the same way you do.
ya i was to nervous getting my new triplets mounted at the shop i got em at cause they are completely symetrical and might have mounted them the wrong way(it would have skied the same but i like the graphics better the way they are supposed to be ridden) and they dont know shit about park skis and probably would have mounted them like 5 back from center or something. so i just took em to my freinds shop and he did it for me.
Yeah i just got to know the guys at my shop over the past two years, and i always have them bust out a tape measure and shit and measure it out with them and such, I've never had a problem.
Trusting other people with my skis is probably one of the scariest things for me. The last pair of skis I got mounted I had to bring to a new shop because the shop I normally go to wouldn't mount rossignol bindings. There were 4 guys at the new shop (Sheels) when I dropped my skis off, and I told all of them exactly where I wanted them mounted. I explained EXACTLY where they should go, and when I came to pick them up the right binding was mounted 1 cm back from the left binding. I was going to kill someone because I thought they wouldn't be able to mount it forward where I wanted it without overlaping the holes. They got it mounted correctly in the end but they were still trying to charge me $30 for the job while I wanted replacement skis. I want to be a ski tech just so I don't ever have to let someone else touch my skis.
me and my brother brought in 3 skis and they drilled through 2 bases, but they fixed them and said they'd replace them if they broke but still they shouldn't fuck 2 of 3 skis
ya i am going to get mine moounted soon, but should i get them true center, like where they balance evenly on my finger, or the marked center on the ski/measured center??? i am a little confused
ya i just came back from taking my skis and bindings and boots from that one place where i said i dont trust them at all. and i got my skis mounted at a true pro shop i trust them completely
i work at the place i get all mine mounted, serviced, and im good mates with the guy that does it, so i have no probs with them ever and i dont have to pay. i take all my mates in and get them done there, no problems so far.
same with the guys on my mountain, im mates with all of them so if i ever want something done up there, its done right and usually at a discount, if not free of, price.
