Replying to Hacking Telus cell phones?

Well anybody that lives in Canada knows that we have dick all for cell service. So I'm stuck going with Telus again because we have dick all GSM coverage in Newfoundland. I'm getting an LG Chocolate but Telus locks a lot of the cool features to sell you more junk. Does anyone know how to get the bluetooth data transfer profile working? I like the phone because it's one of the only ones with bluetooth stero profile but Telus blocked the data profile to sell you a memory card reader. Fuck them. Better yet, anyone know if its possible to remove the telus OS and put the LG one on it (like the verizon models)?
