Butane lighter + vaporgenie

So, i just got this vaporizer through the mail the other day. It seems really dope, works great. I wanted to get it since it's portable and not electronic, unlike other vapes. I really can't describe how much I like it.

I do have one concern though. Look at the design at www.vaporgenie.com Basically, the heat comes from pulling the lighter flame straight through a ceramic filter, which should keep the temp of the bowl right around vaporizing temperature. Since it obviously doesn't cherry, it rips right through lighters, since you need to have the lighter going at least 75% of the time. I'm just worried that i'm taking in alot of butane in my hits. I can't seem to find anywhere online discussing how much butane is left unburnt by the flame etc. The vape doesn't taste bad, but I've never huffed butane, so i probably wouldn't notice a slight taste. Anyone have any insight/experience with something like this?

use a regular bic lighter and ull be set... ive hit tonnes of vaps no real problems


just make sure its lit and not spewing fluid

jk, I had a similar conversation with my friend the other day, discussing how it would be bad to use a zippo for somkin up, cause it's butane, but then again, whats in a bic lighter?

i thought zippos were not butane. I think butane is the safest bet since i believe it is the most flammable, so i'm hoping that almost all the fuel will burn in the flame. Still, i know there are alot of smokers on ns, so someone out there has gotta know what the deal is.

maybe if you pack it tighter it might cherry? not really sure, but if not i think bics are the safest bet

nah man, it's not supposed to cherry. If it does then you're cooking it too hot. If it's cherrying then the weed is definitely burning, which would defeat the purpose of vaping.

vaps arent meant to cherry. you dont take in any smoke, vaporizors take all of the thc out of the weed and fill up the air with thc so its not bad for your lungs and shit

goddamn, i can't believe none of you called me on how much of an idiot i was. A candle works great, you just need to make sure to angle it so the wax doesn't drip in. For anyone thinking about getting this, I definitely would, great little piece.

please. its butane from a lighter. your already smoking out of a vapor type device so theres absolutely no smoke. but whatever its your deal i really have no place challenging you upon it.

If you have to use a lighter it totally defeats the purpose of vaping! If the weed is cherried (burning) then once again you aren't vaping you are just smoking. Yes you can taste the butane burn if you use a lighter really heavy. This is why people light toothpicks and then use that to light their bowls or they use magnifying glasses.

not really. the Vaporgenie doesn't burn the weed, and the flame never gets very close to the nug. The flame is just a source of hot air, which is then pulled over the nug and into your lungs. It's the same as any other convection vaporizer, except that instead of having an electrical heating element of some sort you're using a flame. I'm sure theres a very clean source of heat out there, i just need to figure out what the best one is. I'm thinking for now that i'm gonna just use beeswax candles. You are right that the weed should never cherry, that would mean you're applying too much heat/pulling too slowly.

true, because I enjoy it and think that the minor risks are worth the benefits. I'd still prefer to cut down on any undesired side-effects. I guess it's kinda like the fact that we all ski here, which really is pretty dangerous. However, that danger is worth it to us. But that doesn't mean that we like the risks. I've had my fair share of injuries from skiing, but i don't regret it. Alot of us wear helmets, (I'm pretty sure you do from your pics) to try and minimize some of the risks. It's the same basic situation.

yea you are inhaling burned gas into your lungs. Defintely different than a true vape, which is just a heating element with air blowing through it.

have you ever used a homemade vap?
you use a lighter to heat up the water to boil the weed not burn it.
