dude, not at all. the z series is a new concept that is suppossed to be really light, but just as good as the the s912's. they have a simalair heel piece to the older models, but the tow piece is very much reworked. no more adjustable wings and it is more durable. nothing like the C series.
salomon droped the driver toe on the z series which it is now the quadrax toe which is the same hole pattern as the c series of pervious years 3 hole toe, but keeps the same heel (4) as previous years 912s ect....
they added some carbon to the housing of the toe which makes it super strong and super light as apposed to what they use in the 6's and 7's which is alot more flexy
Also there is no more toehight or wing adjustment everything is automatic and lowered so they can be mounted alot closer to the ski 15mm vs 20 from last year.
No more afd pad, just a teflon slider similuar to look/rossi, which means no more 20mm clearence = no loss of energy at extreem pressre on either edge
The only thing that worrys me is that there is some strange noise going on in side the toe when you hit a ski they are mounted too, sounds like something is loose or broken but it sounds like its not safe... even though im sure its fine
That is the point of the Z series bro, no more adjustments for toe height and wings.
This binding must be considered by anyone weight conscious, especially for their park rigs. The Z12 weighs a solid pound less per ski than the PX12 Look.
The z12 ti are the most horribly aweful bindings I have ever seen. First off, go to a store and pick them up. They feel like they are made by fisher price. They are extremely lightweight, and not in a good way. They are like 100% plastic, and not like a strong durable abs platics. they are the kind of plastic that shatters when it gets cold, And that is just what happened. My friend just bought the 07 karmas and put some z12ti on them. One of the lightest and sickest park setups ever. On his fourth day on them we were hitting rails, and he fell off a rail and his tip went into the ground. His monstrous 145 lb 5'5" body caused the toe wing to straight break off. Picked up the pieces and the fucking things are hollow weak shit plastic. So, in other words, from my experience these things suck balls. I have a pair of s912 tis on my park skis which I am not a big fan of, however, compared to the z12, the s912 is like the best binding ever. That is just sad.
