Metal rails..

So a couple of freidns and I sessioned a 10 foot metal rail yesterday and it didnt slide at all. You could walk down it on your skis, thats how non slideable it was. My friend the built it got it welded and all that, but it didnt slide at all. we tried putting wax on it but that still didnt work, just seemed to make it skickier. Ive heard that metal doesnt slide and that steel would be better? has anyone else had this problem and can u fix it?

thats odddd....... ya im pretty sure that depending on what kind of metal it was i might not slide, like is its like the rough course shit then ya its probally not going to slide.... what did it feel like?

i dont know what kind of metal it was but like it had lines similiar to a football/soccer bench on it, but not the same design. and it felt like i was walking down the rail on my edges.

yea it all depends on what metal you were using, steel conduit works will as well as PVC

yeh you used aluminum, it doest react with wax, so it will get stciker, take steel, its the best

some times soap you would use in the shower helps aluminum a little but for the most part, aluminum is worthless, hopefully it didnt cost your friend much. Iron also sucks

yeah....we looked at it after and it was dented and scratched from edges...so he must have made an aluminum rail...but when boarders hit it, it was fine most of the time though.

I think flat bars using aluminum will not slide because we used a round bar one time and it slid very nice.

wax is never going to make a rail slide better. it only works between the base of ur ski and the snow.

wrong wax helps rails a bunch. aluminum wont slide unless its pretty cold (colder then 15 f) because the cold makes it more dense and harder. i use wax on my metal rails all the time and its makes em much better

buffer it and if that doesnt do it put oil on it (not motor oil in case ur stupid)
