this is the new 007 movie for everyone who doesnt know. i just saw it tonight and it is sweet. lots of twists, action, and suspense. this is one of the best bond movies yet, in my opinion. so its worth the $7.75 to see it...those movie theaters keep raising their damn price at my town, bastards.
i thought it was great b/c the plot was more realistic and believable than all the pierce brosnan bond movies...the new dude that plays bond is really good too
I thought Craig rocked, a much more believable bond.. no getting chased on waves or stupid gadgets in this one.. and he just makes brosnan look silly. The bond girl was not only hot but smart, and that was a nice change.
Awesome movie, Daniel Craig surprised me a lot. He really rocked, now if they can only teach him to drive a stick he'd be set. Anyways, great movie, go see it.
BTW, this clears up the stuff about the 'original Casino Royale' (from movies.com): "There was a version of this movie made in 1967 and Woody Allen was the villain. As you might guess, it was kind of a Bond parody. This one is nothing like that. In fact, it's a re-booted version of Bond because Casino was the first Bond novel that Ian Fleming wrote. So this one gives you a fresh Bond..."
that is how Ian Fleming wrote the books. as a blonde. but in the begining when Sean the king Connery came along, he was just too good too pass on. this is the first book of the James Bond series. think of this as the prequil. this is the first James Bond story to be writen.
this guy reminds me of George Lazenby(sp?) the most underratted Bond. he only made one movie. "On Her Majestys Secret Service" and it was one of the best. and Daniel just sounds like him. he has more of the Sean Connery look though. I was really impressed with this movie.
that's exactly what I thought. Now im just wondering whether theyre just restarting the series from this one or if they will continue that add from this up until Dr.No
good point. I sure as hell hope that they do not redo any of the old ones. that would just be wrong. but it would be cool for them to either continue after Die Another Day, or, make more between this one and Dr. No
Keep in mind that the original Casino Royale starred David Niven. On the one hand, there's NO WAY to top David Niven. On the other hand, he's even less a bond-type than if they'd cast Owen Wilson. So don't get your panties in a twist about Craig being blonde. I can't wait to see it.
yea i liked it alot but it was definitely different than bonds from the past. i really liked the new actor though. it really shows the bad ass side of bond
i loved it, the construction scene was amazing. a little long, but amazing. and the writing was great as well. the only thing i was disapointed in was the car!!! that poor thing!!!!! ahh, but there were no guns coming off of it or anything, and now special stuff done to it. just the aed (which came in handy) and the handgun
Wow, I cant believe so many people loved the construction scene. I was so unimpressed, I kept thinking "great, the movies gonna be garbage", but it went WAY uphill from there.
As for an opening scene especialy I thought it wasnt that good. One of the best opening scenes for a bond movie throughout the series has been, I think, Tomorrow Never Dies. Shitty movie? Absolutely. Great opening though.
I keep reflecting on the movie and definetely my favorite change they made was that they modernised the script a little. The added humour was key, not just Pierce driving a hover craft yet still having the same script as the 60's.
i herd that the black guy was one of the guys who origianly started that "free walking" or whatever, so most of it was liget, as far as jumping, not necisarily onto those cranes, that was probly blue screened anyways.
This movie was dope, I highly reccommend it to everyone. Daniel Craig is such a good bond, way better than expected. His acting is amazing, as is his fighting and just the whole vibe of him is so badass and fits so well for the role. I really hope they make more bond films with him. That chick was wicked hott too...overall a sick movie.
Agreed, and I cannot understand how people can say this movie was boring. Just because it wasnt two straight hours of explosions and giant unbeleivable solar beams like the last one doesn't mean it's boring. It means it has a plot.
Sorry, but I just had a huge urge to dig this thread up.
I saw the film back when it was in theatres, but I just bought the DVD and watched it again tonight, and feel a need to reflect. I've been a huge bond fan since I was a little boy. My grandfather really got me into the series. I've seen all 21 films and even read some of the novels (Ian Flemmings original Casino Royale included). I want to say that Casino Royale is definitely in my top 3 bond films.
Ever since his debut in Goldeneye, I liked the Brosnan Bond. And I was pretty disappointed to see him leave. But when I heard he was being replaced by Daniel Craige I was actually kind of excited and interested. I've seen Craige's acting before, and thought he was awesome in Layer Cake (which is a tight movie btw, I definitely suggest it). I know this was definitely against the general concensus.
In my opinion, Craige was amazing. Definitely different, but non-the-less amazing. Especially after reading the novel, this was the Bond that Flemming wanted to portray in his debut novel. The writers were right in pursuing a "darker" take. This story basically explains why Bond acts the way he does in the every other story. You have to remember that this bond is new and fresh. He just killed 2 people for the first time. And this was the first (and only) time, that James Bond legitimately fell in love. Yet that was snapped from him in a heartbeat. And Le Chiffre tried to break him like a horse.
I might be camping out for Bond 22 when it comes out sometime within the next 2 years.
And also... the line where bond orders the martini at poker table, is huge. In the novel Flemming actually has them playing Baccarat.
"Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?"
That was taken straight from the novel. And he named it after Vesper Lynn. So it's called a Vasper Martini. I order them any time I'm at some formal function. Expensive, but definitely worth it. Try one sometime.
i liked this bond. i never liked pierce. sean was the best bond. you can't replace sean. lol.
there def should have been more car scenes. that car was sick. i'm all about aston martin's.
great movie! i was so impressed, best bond movie in a long time, and actually, best movie in general in a long time. great plot and great action, i think it even gives goldeneye competition. i love daniel craig too, he's an excellent bond, i like him better than brosnon, he's a lot more badass.
