STEVENS UPDATE (ignore the other one)

so i hiked stevens today (thursday) and they have quite the park, when i left they were still setting things up. Basically the park goes like this from top to bottom, you start of with a flat box, then go down to a flat-down box, then theres a street-style flat rail, followed by the pryamid box, on the right of the pryamid you can hit a up-flat rail (barley and up though, mostly just flat), then you go down, and they DO have the waterfall setup (the jumps about 5-10 ft tall, prrty popy, and its about a 20-35 ft gap, pretty fun jump), then you go down and they have the c-box, followed by the rainbow box, then they have the 2 flat boxes setup into a a-frame box (same setup and location as last year), then the park ends with the s-rail (same location as last year). hope this made sense, and have fun in the park, see ya Saterday.

today was pretty good. kinda sucked that it was freezing fog tho, i had to keep stopping to clear my goggles. i saw someone riding up big chief with pontoons and an atlas camo oakley suit, i was just kinda wondering why you would need those skis today, the pow seemed terrible unless he was hiking somewhere. anyway, today was pretty sweet.

I saw the same guy, kinda ridiculous. But yeah, I had the same issue with goggles and crusty shit all over. Pretty good day tho, I saw my bro get utterly fucked in the park. Hit the 2nd jump in the park and for some reason went wayyyy backseat and fell right on his back and began coughing blood. I dunno how he managaed that, he boards tho so who knows. The waterfall was pretty good today, had decent pop and seemed larger than sunday.

yea the larger jumps are nice. they are by no means "big" but they are poppy, larger, and the landings are certainly steeper. so not so bad. even the top jumps have a little more loft to them (but certainly not big).
the freezing rain was... interesting. very similar to martin luther king day in the season we shall not speak of. it wasnt so bad early, but i was an ice cube by the end of the day.

I agree... wth is up with the tire? I have seen so many newbs come up to it like they are gona stall it and just run into it. It makes for good entertainment but, come on, Theres a tire ruber shortage....

that tire is really dumb, and that gap to 10 ft down rail is the worst idea ever they should just make it a flat railup by the flat box or right after it.

i think the tire is sick. they put something up in the park that would otherwise be thrown away. its not like they replaced another park feature with it. its just something new that they put up for fun. although it would be way sick if it spun around

The tire could be sick if they set it up right... kinda like the cock last year. Where is the cock hiding anyways?

we threw the tire out there because its junk it came off one of our loaders. and the cock well we are trying to think of a way to set it up so it can be used and doesnt take all day to maintain. thinking like at a 45 degree angle so you can slide up it or off at the end and have a spine landing. oh and the gap to down rail was my doing we dont have any real gaps to rails there all street style wanted to see something diffent. sorry for trying to be creative.

The cock at 45 degree's would be kinda cool. One of the problems last year was the issue of the takeoff/landing being way too compressive. Going into it with speed drove your knees into your chest. Maybe you could 'mount' it near a spine, so kinda a Quarterpipe/Cock ride on one side and then lessen the angle of the wall for a takeoff for the hip? Just an idea anyways.
And I love the rail garden, good stuff in there from what I've seen. Someone needs to start shooting the dumb asses who use the rail takeoffs as 5 foot jumps tho.

oh I think a gap to down rail is a good idea I just think the rail should be more like 20 feet. I just feel that a gap to 10 ft down rail is kind of pointless.

Haha, funny as hell day up there today. So fucking icy, and I was rocking my old 1080's with absolutely no edges. I could not get enough speed for that second hit on the left in the park, even from bombing from the chutes. Lower that shit, its impossible to clear the step up! Has anyone been able to do it?

My last attempt on it I tapped the knuckle, almost clearing it. But the contact sent me backseat and I ate shit down the landing. Ice shavings EVERYWHERE inside my jacket, that shit was COLD!

I saw 3 people get fucked up in there on Saturday. It was so icy my bro was boarding down it when his board kicked out and he slide down the entire thing on his ass. Was pretty comical but he easily coulda got hurt. Whenever I bomb the thing I just pray that I dont go down cause if I do im gonna get completely fucked and maybe end my season.

thats the good way to go, yet so many take the more popular route, which is nasty

I did that also. You are right, it is a bit smoother but kinda choppy higher in the chute. But yeah, the final runout is much smoother.

or just ride brooks, takes only a little longer and you can watch people in the park.

Yeah, I do that a lot as well, but I usually lose a lot of speed on the track, and it was cookies galore above it, thanks to a groomer.

Bottom of winnie was good yesterday. Props to the groomer for that one. Tuesday was probaly the worst I ever seen that chute with snow on it. Boiler plate hauling ass to speed bummps = Scary shit.
