I gots a question. I don't know much about filters and such. Anyway, i have this song where the sample's hi hat is off beat from the beat i have. if i line it up the song wont sound right. What can i do to take out that hi hat sound, or at least make it quieter. I try to use the equilizers and stuff but it doesn't work well because it fucks up with other sounds in the sample. Any ideas. I'm sure you probably all know how to do it and i'm just retarded. thanks

The best shot I would say would be to EQ it...
What happened to the project file? It got deleted?

k. well i was chopping up a song and it's origional hi hat is not on the same beat as what i turned it into. i can't explain it well. like im chopping up a song by the stylistics and turning it into a beat.

I think your best bet is to use an EQ with as many small channels as possible and try to target the exact freq. the hat is iat.

^pretty much what everyone else has said. try to find the exact frequency the hat is on, maybe in combination with a slower attack.

Is there any software program like this^ or is it a hardware only type deal?

^you need a spectrum analyzer to find out frequencies. some programs have a pitch finder i think but i don't own one that does.
and every single software program out there has adjustable settings for attack.
so no, you don't need hardware to do any of this.
